(A/N: Thank you so much for waiting, of course these updates will be quite slow since my internet sucks, but I hope you like this one. Also I've recently gotten into the Hamilton songs, I love them so here's one) WARNING : Hints of abuse

David's POW

Driving down the coastline to the nearest shelter, of course I was driving in my black mercedes. Frequently checking the side mirror to see if anyone was behind me. And to my surprise there was a long row of cars in different colors, driving behind me. I had heard about the meteor shower that was supposed to hit soon so I tried at least to raid some shops, but I only got several cans. And there wasn't many shelters in each state, some only held 10 while others... maybe twenty.

I was nearing a lookout location, it had several cars already parked whilst driving up to it. I tried to cram my car between two big jeeps. I didn't worry too much about whether or not I scratched someone's car... it's not like it will survive this.

Living in Miami and hearing the emergency broadcast had sent plenty of people into a state of panic, most of which were already trampled to death when entering supermarkets. I could already tell that this was going to go the same way. But I couldn't doubt that there were many people out there who most likely already were dead, if not condemned to die out in the meteor shower. Most shelters didn't take pregnant women, elders or really young children.

They took in those who would lead humanity from the brink of a possible... extinction. And to do that, I assume it was going to go the same way that the movies had depicted. Old or really young, had no chance in that kind of world.

It was a dog-eat-dog world and I hope that I'll make it.

There was a huge lineup with people, some old and young, but most were in their late twenties. Many had to be dragged away from the line, I could only guess that they didn't exactly enjoy waiting on their doom. Neither did I, but I wasn't going to be remembered as the person who got dragged out of a shelter, screaming and crying like a newborn baby. I felt bad, of course but it's not like I couldn't care about them, I had enough to worry about.

And right now this was one of those things, some were pushing others, which caused me to stumble back as the one in front of me had pushed me backwards.

''Hey! What's your issue man?''. I snapped at the one pushing me, he turned back and all I could see was utter panic in his eyes. He was a well built man but it looked like he was about to snap at either me or anyone near him.

''I.. I can't ... I can't die here... I have a goddamn kid''. He heaved, his breaths growing heavy and attracting some attention from the ones behind me, the ones he had also pushed by pushing me.

His heavy frame shook, the kid in front of him had leaned onto him and held his hand.

''Dad.. I'll be okay..don't... worry''. The kid was less than maybe twelve, he had brown hair and eyes, a slight white scar going from his chin to the middle of his cheek. It was small but noticeable.

Instead of calming down, he became more aggravated, until...

he snapped.

Pushing the kid out of the way, who tried to hang on to his sleeve. The nervous dad, ripped himself off the kid's grip and he marched off to the soldiers who stood in front of the entrance to the shelter. I could hear him from over there, the kid stared at his dad, who by now had threatened at least two soldiers. I tried to console him but he flinched away from me, fear evident in his eyes.

He wasn't afraid of me, it was the demon he called dad, that he was afraid of.

''Hey..kid..look at me, it's alright''. I soothed him, he was still afraid but I made no move to touch or otherwise any hasty movements. He was still panicking, but even more so when his brown eyes had landed on the mess that now had become his dad.

A bruise on his cheek, and his head hung low, whether from shame or acceptance that what he did...had cost him.

Brushing past me and the his son, without even a single glance to any of us, he stumbled off to his car and started it.

''Dad... why''. The kid seemed to be lost in sorrow and I couldn't even help. None of us could now either, the line had started again and I saw him getting lost in himself, grief overtook him... then numbness as his arms slowly hung from his side when he got up.

''Are you okay?''. I gently touched his shoulder, which he shook off.

I gave up and hoped he would find happiness soon enough.
