Tomorrow I'm going to The Dealio Commons. I will get all of my things for STEM. Lilac will come with me. Then, the day after tomorrow, I will go to STEM! Oh, I'm so excited. But also so nervous. I have always thought that today never would come. Why would I grow up? I was not like everyone else. I would never have to graduate from Oakwood Elementary, let alone go to middle school. And I was right. I would never go to middle school. STEM is a private-public school. But I had always pictured myself in the Ilvermorny Colors, an elite group of the best students in the country, whenever I considered what I would be when I was 11. But when I saw the Ilvermorny curriculum, I knew it was NOT for me. Not a single mention of math, English, science, social studies. And I realized that Ilvermorny was not right for me.
So we searched and searched, trying to find an acceptable school, with magic and not magic classes. Donegal Academy, Ecole de Magie, Lawrence School Of Witchcraft, but none of them fit me. And then, by chance, I stumbled upon STEM. It hasn't been around for long, but I knew it was my destiny. Aunt Mabel was over, taking care of Lily because she was sick. Mother was at her job. So mother was not around to hear Aunt Mabel and her ¨gaosherd¨ nonsense. Aunt Mabel is one of my favorite people. She's so easy to be around, so easy to love. Daisy, aunt Mabel said. You'll have to go to a middle school soon. Which one will you go to? I told aunt Mabel about how mother wanted me to go to Ilvermorny, where everyone went. And I told her how I wanted to go to a school that would help me to become an Elementary School teacher. And how, to do that, you needed many degrees. You needed charms, transfiguration, care of Magical Creatures, Defence Against The Dark Arts, Herbology, etc. But you also needed things that Ilvermorny does not give. Things like Art, Health, Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. And Aunt Mabel told me, Daisy, you have to say goodbye to the old. You don't need to be near this town in the middle of nowhere. You have to believe in your dreams.
Later that night, as I lay awake, my radio buzzed. It got louder. I got out of bed and accepted the message. Aunt Mabel's head stuck out of my radio. ¨Hey, squirt!¨ she said. ¨I think I found the perfect school for you!¨
