You sighed. This was gonna be a long day.

"Good morning!" You heard a familiar voice say.

"Hey, good morning" you responded. It came out a bit ruder than you wanted, so you put on a small smile. (Is that even english what)

The voice, which belonged to Kayley, spoke again.

"How'd ya sleep? Heard you were here late yesterday."

Kayley was really kind, but she was also very direct and just plain nosy. You were here very late last night. You walked out of the building at 12 am and it was now 8am. You didn't sleep all that much.

Where is here you might ask? Oh just the job you absolutely despise. You worked at a media company, you had for a while actually. This was your third year here. Kayley is the receptionist here.

"Fine. Didn't get much sleep, but overall I feel good." You fake smiled.

"Alright... just make sure you talk to Owen he needs to see you."

"Why?" I mean it's not like you knew Owen that well. He was nice, sure, but you didn't really know him.

"I don't know, just ask him." She said with a devious smile on her face. Oh no. She was setting you up with him wasn't she.

Look how that went last time - your subconscious reminded you

"Fine" you said. It came out pretty neutral.

Tired. That's how you felt. You got home at around 1 am and had to wake at 6:30. The drive to your job was about 30 minutes. Oh how you wished you were in bed right now.
The overworking had started a few weeks ago and it was absolutely draining you.

No one at this damn company seems to know how a fucking deadline works and since you were an editor - the last one actually - you had to wait for everyone to finish their part of the magazine before you could finish it. It all kept getting worse and worse. The magazine has to go online in the morning. 5 am to be exact, and it was basically all your fault if it didn't.

Your mornings at the job were calm. Not much editing to do yet. You decided to get your lunch a tad earlier than normal. It was now 11:30 am so it should be ready.

You left your cramped little office and headed to the cafeteria.

As you were on your way to the park near the building for a bit of fresh air, you bumped into someone.

"Shit sorry! I wasn't looking." You told the man. He seemed to be around your age and had fluffy brown hair.

"That's okay! Don't worry about it."

You smiled at him

"Tyler!" He suddenly blurted out.

"Huh?" You were confused.

"Uhh I uh my name! Tyler! My name!" He tried to speak but it just didn't work.

You quietly chuckled at his weirdness.

"So your name is Tyler, I assume?"

"Mmmnyes" he mumbled

"Well Tyler, y/n my name" you said mockingly. He gave you a fake angry look before he burst into a fit of laughter.

You couldn't help but laugh right with him.

Tyler told quite a bit about himself as you two sat on the bench in the park. He's a musician in a band, which you thought was extremely cool. He seemed really nervous to tell you though.

Almost like he thought you wouldn't like him for it. There's more where that came from, you thought.

He writes a lot and used to be a basketball fanatic. You tell him about your hobbies. You also tell him that you actually hate your job.

He frowns.

"I hope you figure it out, I mean I was supposed to be a pro basketball player, or work in an office, but it wasn't for me y'know."

You nod. You definitely understand.

You two talk a bit more before you feel your phone vibrate.

"Darn, they need me inside. I have to get back to work." You say with a sad smile.

"Good luck in there! You can do it!" He says.

As you start walking away with a frown on your face, you hear

"Wait!"

You turn back around to see a flustered and nervous Tyler.

"Um, here's my uh .. my..      uhh...."

"You're uhhhh?" You question

"My number" he says with a cute and shy smile.

A smile immediately forms on your face as you accept the small piece of paper.

"Thanks" you mumble. You can just feel your cheeks redden intensly so you turn around and head back to your office at a very quick pace. You don't even dare to turn back around because of how awkward you are.

Wow. You just got a very cute guy's number. And he's kind too? What just happened?
