[Soulmate Au ] That red string - Child ! Butter scotch × Child ! Reader

No one's pov .

(Y/n) had always been taught about the soulmate system , and she never really questioned it since she thought it wasn't really going to affect her in anyway . Being the curious child she was too , she had done some small research about the whole soulmate system from old books that she somehow found just lying around at home . Strangely enough , she found it to be quite interesting for someone of her age when kids from her age group would find the subject to be quite boring .

She had been told by some of her close friends that she was werid to be so interested in something that boring , but , she just shrugged it off and told them it would die out soon so they needn't need to worry about her strange interest . She was lying , obviously , since she wasn't the type of person to just give up one something so easily . However , she did find some fault with the system when she read that one could only see the red string leading to their soulmate at the age of 16 , 18 being the latest that was recorded . And seeing as she was just 6 years old right now , she had at least 10 or 12 years more to go before being able to see her red string .

(Y/n) , upon reading about such rule , immediately stopped reading it and huffed with frustration . Did she really needed to wait for such a long time to meet the one that she was destined to be with ? (Y/n) let out a sigh before she sat up and went towards her bedroom window , looking outside to see if there was anything she could do to get her mind of the whole thing . It was snowing , so , there really wasn't many kids outside playing . Most kids were probably playing video games at home during the season . Either way , (Y/n) was really out of options but to also go and play some video games , even though she wanted to bulid a snowman with someone else .

She was brought out of her thought when the door to her room was suddenly opened , revealing her mom who had smile on her face . (Y/n) went towards her with a curious look on her face , she was wondering why her mom was here when it wasn't even time for lunch or dinner . And they weren't really expecting any guest either , that was till next week , and her mom wouldn't justcome to her room for no reason too .

Well , that was till (Y/n) noticed a figure behind her mom as she entered her room .

(Y/n) tried to get a better look at who was standing behind but could only guess that it was someone of her age seeing as their height was pratically the same as her's .

"(Y/n) , we have  guests over . They're our new neighbours that moved in a few days over and me and your dad decided to invite them over , to get to know them better . And guess what . "

(Y/n) titled her head as she puffed her cheeks , she didn't like guessing since it was a huge bother but responded either way to not be rude , " Guess what mom ? You know I hate guessing . "

"Well " she began as she lightly pushed the person behind her to the front " They have a child too and his the same age as you dear. So why don't you two get to know each other while the adults talk downstairs ? "

(Y/n)'s eyes lit up upon being told that she had someone to play with as she excitiedly nodded her head before turning her attention towards the boy , her mom letting out a light laugh before closing the door , leaving the two kids alone to play . At first , it was quite awkward between the two since the boy was quite shy but he sooned opened up when (Y/n) showed him her guinea pig that was just chilling in it's cage . It wasn't long before the two started talking about their family and themselves and become fast friends .

(Y/n) found out that the boy's friend was Butters , a nickname to be exact , in which she found to be pretty cool . The two then decided to go out a play , probably building a snowman or having a snowball fight , they weren't quite sure which but they were sure they were going to be out in the snow . The two then ran downstairs to get their winter wear before running outside , acting like kids on a sugar rush as they filled they gloved-covered hands with snow .

While the two the playing , they didn't seem to notice a flickering red string that seemed to be connecting the two kids to each other by their pinkie's . As this was happening , cold wind was being blown into (Y/n)'s bedroom through her bedroom window , which was slightly opened . Though the wind wasn't strong enough to blow a toy or doll down , it certaintly was to turn a page over from the book that (Y/n) was reading previosuly that was still opened . The wind didn't stop blowing until a page of the book was flipped over .

A paragraph of  the page in which (Y/n) should've read before making the conclusion that waiting to see the red string that connected her to her soulmate was too long .

' Though it is said that one would be able to see the red string connecting them to their destined one by the age of 16 , or 18 the latest . There are some cases in which some reported being able to see their red string at the early age of 6 . '
