"I love you guys! Thank you so much for your help." You say to your dad and your brother as they finished helping you unpack.

"You're welcome baby girl! Just promise you'll come visit us whenever you get a chance." Your dad said hugging you and giving you a kiss on the cheek before grabbing his bag.

"I promise I will." You smile and walk towards your brother giving him a hug as you walk to the door. Your older brother Darius wasn't one to show affection but you knew he would miss having you around.

You say your goodbyes once again as your dad and Darius leave. After they were gone you sat in the couch and looked around your new apartment to taking in your new surroundings. Moving from Texas was a really big step for you being that you'd never been out of state. But when you got one of the biggest opportunity of you life you had to make a choice. You never thought in a million years you would be living in Los Angeles but here you were. In two days you were starting a new job at one of the biggest fashion magazines in the country. You were nervous as hell but ready for what was to come.

3 Months Later

"Girl I'm telling you this bitch is crazy." You laugh as you talked on the phone with one of your best friends Ty. "She's like a black Miranda Priestly insane." You tell her.

You'd been at you job for about 3 months now and as much as you appreciated the opportunities that you got to be apart of you couldn't stand your boss Ava. You felt like she was making your job more complicated than it needed to be but the job paid really well and you got to travel so you figured you would deal with it and gather some experience before you decided whether or not to leave.

"See that's what you get for leaving me now your miserable." Ty joked.

"Shut up." You laugh. "Anyways when are you coming to visit." You ask.

"Soon hopefully. I got to go but I'll call you tomorrow. Love ya." Ty says.

"Love ya too." You say before hanging up and getting ready for bed.

The next day at work you sat at your desk talking to your coworker Maya. Out of everyone you worked with you and Maya seemed to get along the most. She was the only friend you had in LA so whenever the two of you weren't working you were hanging out.

"I know you told me not to do it but I set you up a blind date." Maya laughed nervously.

"Maya seriously!" You say rolling your eyes.

"I know, I know you can hate me all you want I just thought it would be a good idea and I told him that you'd be up for it so can you please just to it for me." Maya begged. "He's fine as hell and he's a friend of my boyfriend. Just trust me please." Maya added.

"Fine I'll go just know I hate you right now." You say.

"You'll get over it and you're not gonna be saying that when you meet him." Maya smiles. "I give him your number and tell him that you're down so he can send you the details." Maya says excitedly.

Its been a year since your last relationship which ended horribly and you didn't what to jump into anything too soon but you decided to go along with the date.

Grabbing your things you prepared to go to leave when you heard Ava calling for Maya to come into her office. You and Maya exchanged looks as she waved bye to you and walked into Ava's office.

You returned home and made yourself comfortable before making dinner. As you waited for your food to finish you got a call from your dad checking up on you to see how you were doing. After your phone call you made yourself a plate, sat down on the couch and turn on the TV. Halfway into How To Get Away With Murder you received a text from a number you didn't know.

"Hey it's Roman! Maya gave me your number."

You read the message and contemplated if you should text back or not. You put your phone down and pick it back up to text back.

"Hi!" You text back.

"So about our date is tomorrow okay?" Roman messaged you.

"Tomorrow's perfect." You reply.

"Great tomorrow night at 8 at the LA Sky Bar! See you soon!" Roman replies back.

You read the message and take a deep breath, as much as you didn't want to go on this date you felt like maybe something good would come from it.

Tonight was the night of your date with Roman as you wait for your Uber you finished getting ready. A few minutes later the Uber arrived to take you to the bar. Once you got there you walked in and someone escorted you upstairs to the rooftop. You sat at an empty table and waited for Roman to show up. You were a little early so you ordered a drink and went through your phone as you waited. While you were on your phone you could feel someone staring at you. You nonchalantly looked up and spotted a man at the bar you thought that maybe it could be Roman. Not wanting to look stupid you decide to text him to let him know where you were.

After a few minutes you didn't receive anything from Roman, it was now 8:45 and still nothing. You ordered another drink and decided to wait a little longer, you figured maybe he was stuck in traffic since LA traffic is horrible. It was now 9:30 and you still hadn't received a text or call.

"Since I'm out I might as well make the best of it." You say to yourself. Realizing that you'd been stood up you get up and go to the bar.

Before you could order anything the bartender hands you a drink. You were about to tell him you didn't order it until you saw a familiar face. The guy from earlier looked at you and raised his glass before walking towards you.

"Let me guess, you were stood up?" He says looking at you.

"Yuuuup! How did you know?" You say looking up from your drink.

"There's no way a woman as beautiful as you would willingly be at a place like this alone...unless you were looking for trouble." He smiles. You laugh as he holds his hand out to introduce himself.

"I'm Trevante." He says as you hold you hand out to shake his.

"Y/N." You say before you take a sip of your drink.

"Soooo Trevante what do you do for a living? If you don't mind me asking." You say.

"I'm a lawyer. What about you!" He asks.

"I'm an art director for Blaq Magazine." You tell him.

"That's dope." He says taking a sip of his drink.

"Yeah it's pretty cool." You say. "You already know my excuse for being here alone so what's yours?" You smile.

"I'm actually not alone I'm with some coworkers." He says pointing across from you two.

"If you're here with people then why are you wasting your time with me." You question.

"You look like you needed the company and plus I don't really like my coworkers. I'd rather be here talking with you." Trevante says.

You smile at him and this time you actually take in all his features. You realize how muscular he was and not only that he was fine as hell.

You and Trevante spent all night talking about your lives growing up and what lead to both of you coming to LA. The two of you were the only ones left at the bar other than the workers so you decided to head home. Trevante walking you out front and waited for your Uber with you.

"I was thinking maybe we can do this again." Trevante says to you.

"Ummm yeah! I would love to!" You smile.

You exchange numbers as your Uber pulls up Trevante walks to the door and opens it for you.

"Thank you." You say turning to him. You pause for a second and kiss him on the lips. He kisses you back and you get in the car.

"It was nice meeting you." You say.

"You too! I'll talk to you later." He says closing the door as you wave.

On the drive home you couldn't help but think about the last few hours spent with Tre and how none of this would've happened if you hadn't been stood up. You started to think Roman not showing up was probably the best thing to happened. The few hours spent with Trevante was the most fun you'd had since you'd moved to LA.
