FLIGHT 60125 TO NEW YORK HAS BEEN DELAYED FIVE HOURS

Kira squinted at the green letters printed on the large board above her and sighed irritably. What was she supposed to do for five hours, stuck in an airport in a foriegn country? She tucked her dark, silky hair behind her ear, turned on her heel and briskly walked away from the terrible news, dragging her pull-along suticase behind her. Her next stop in the desolate airport was Starbucks; she needed to stay awake for this flight. Damn student budgets - if she actually had some money the she could have gotten this flight in waking hours, and then she wouldn't be forcing her eyelids open at quarter to one in the morning in the middle of Heathrow Airport.

"I'll have a medium mocha, please," she managed to squeak at the yawning barista. Kira seemed to be the only customer, until she scanned the coffee shop and spotted a lanky girl, tucked into a booth, making small frustrated noises at her phone. She smiled to herself, shaking her head to stay alert as she was handed her hot drink. Her hand delved into her satchel and rummaged around to pull out a muddle of papers which she called her coursework. Might as well add the finishing touches, Kira thought as she slumped onto the nearest couch and splayed the papers over the low coffee table, seeing as I'm here for five hours.

She propped her little pull along suitcase by her feet, and set to work.

Twenty minutes in and Kira was tediously bored. Her coursework for university had practically been perfected already, she was struggling to find anything to edit. She sat back in the couch and let out a sigh, taking a gulp from her drink. The caffiene, although blurred by the hot chocolate, was still noticable and bitter, she scrunched up her nose and gulped it down, knowing that it was needed.

Out of the corner of her eye, Kira spotted the other customer head up to the counter to order her third coffee. She didn't know how the honey haired girl did it, Kira hated the stuff. Alas, it was needed, and the other customer must have had a dire need for it too.

She looked away before the other girl caught her staring, but she still managed to draw attention to herself. The girl glanced at her, giving her a one over, before deciding to walk to the couch and plop herself down next to Kira.

"Hi," the girl said with a tired, but warm smile, putting her coffee down next to Kira's papers. She gulped, and managed to muster up enough energy to wave.

Although, her hand didn't seem to get the message and it looked more like her small hand had a spasm. She turned away and back to the pile of coursework before she could embarrass herself any further. The girl didn't seem to notice the blush creeping up Kira's neck and heating up her face, she just took out her phone from her denim shorts and began fiddling with it. God, she was a distraction.

Kira was still struggling to stay awake, she was mulling over the idea of just ordering a black coffee instead of a weak, caffeinated hot chocolate. But, her legs felt heavy against the leather sofa, and her breathing was slowing. The couch was so comfortable. Kira just sunk right into it. There was a lull of hushed human voices and it sounded like a lullaby to the sleepy girl, her eyelids drooped and without warning, she was asleep, her head tucked between the arm of the sofa and her arm.
