Taehyung's POV

"Taehyung," My mother called. "I'm home."

"Hey, mom." I said, bowing slightly.

"Come. We need to talk." She said.

I tried recounting everything bad I've done recently. Nothing came.

"Arasso." I said cautiously, following her into the kitchen.

She took a deep breath. "I got fired."

It took me awhile to process her words. She looked at me expectantly, tears threatening to spill from her honeyed eyes.

"Well?" She said hoarsely.

"Eomma, I'm so sorry." I moved in for an embrace. She hugged me tight, choking back her tears.

"It'll work out. I-I'll get a part-time job and-" I offered.

"No, no sweetie." She said. "I was thinking we could move back to Busan."

"B-Busan?" I managed weakly.

"It's your father." She said.

My heart stopped dead still. I could feel my blood boiling in the pit of my stomach, my pulse quickening by the second. Then something inside me snapped.

"I'm leaving my friends, my school, my home, my everything, just to go back to some foul, abusive idiot who harms me? Try again. I'm never going back." I spat.

"Son, please. It's for your own good." She pleaded.

"For my own good? What have you two ever done 'for my own good'? All you ever did was run off filming commercials and attend meetings and leave me alone with the monster you call a husband! You let me suffer every day with that lunatic, take his blows and insults, and in the end what do you do? You believe his dirty lies, even when he cheated on you. You do you, but you'll never convince me to go back."

With that I stormed out of the kitchen, slamming my bedroom door loudly.

"Taehyung?" My mother said, perched on the edge of my bed.

"Go away." I snapped. My voice was muffled into my pillowcase. "I don't want to see you right now."

"Son, hear me out." She said.

I turned to face her. Her eyes were swollen and puffy and red from crying, and her mascara was streaked across her cheeks. I felt a twinge of guilt building up inside of me as my gaze travelled downward.

"So I talked it over with your friend, Jimin. He said he'd be willing to come too."

I let out a breath I was holding. Jimin. I didn't deserve someone like him.

"Do you think you can go?" She asked.

I sat up, feeling strangely lightheaded. "I'll tell you in the morning." I decided.

"Thank you, son. Good night." She said, planting a kiss on my forehead.
