Haruto's POV
"YO, YOU ALRIGHT?" Junghwan beside me nudged my arm as he showed concern. "You look like shit."
"I'm fine," I immediately answered back as I put a black mask over my mouth back again. Knowing me, he leaned back and stared at me.
"Haruto."
I chuckled, trying to make it less obvious that I was annoyed, "I say I'm fine."
"No, you're not." He ripped the mask off of my face, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing!" I couldn't contain the anger in my voice at this point. Aggressively grabbing the mask back from his hands, I noticed that everyone, including Junghwan jumped at my change of tone. I never was like this, especially not in the airport, where fans were everywhere and recorded the slightest of movements. From the corner of my eyes, I could see Hyunsuk walking towards us.
Junghwan laid off, putting his hands in the air as he surrender, "Okay, alright!"
Hyunsuk stood in front of us, brows furrowed as he asked, "What just happened?"
"I was just asking if he was alright, and he snapped on me." Junghwan put his hands back down, and instead of getting upset, he just cautiously continued looking at me.
Sighing, it didn't take a genius to realize that I was in the wrong. "Sorry, I'm just. . . tired."
Before he could say anything, Hyunsuk cut in, "That's fine, we all are, just don't do that in front of the fans." He waited for Junghwan to leave before he asked himself, "What's actually wrong?"
I didn't say anything and kept my head low. From my lack of communication, Hyunsuk just patted my back and walked away, knowing that when I was comfortable talking about it, I would. Jeongwoo, however, saw it as a chance to talk to me. Out of all the boys, he and I were the closer, one, because of our age, but also because it was just easier to talk to him.
"It didn't go so good, I assume?" He mumbled under his breath so that no one else could hear him. Shaking my head, he just sighed and directed his gaze away from me as he continued, "I'm sure it'll all work out. I mean, from what you told me from that night, she was just as into you as you were to her."
I scoffed, "I don't think so. You weren't there, but she wasn't even happy to see me."
"Girls are like that, man." Jeongwoo turned to me, talking as if I was the dumbest person on earth, "That's how they're programmed, saying one thing but meaning the other."
"Right." I just agreed so that I wouldn't have to talk about it, "It doesn't really matter anymore, though. She made it pretty clear that she wanted nothing to do with me."
"Well, I'm sorry."
With that, he also patted my back and walked away. That was the best part of being in this group: the members. They knew when to comfort me and when to give me time. It was very rarely for something to just know the difference between the two in another person, but somehow, all seven of us just clicked together.
"Alright, let's just moving." Hyunsuk's voice spoke as he got the last of what we needed and started leading the way.
Putting my mask back on, I silently trailed behind.
I wondered if she got the note and what she decided to do with it. Everly may have wanted nothing to do with me, but I know that a small part of her, deep down, read the note. Maybe I knew that of her, or maybe I just hoped for it. Either way, it was that bit of hope that kept me going for the time being.
. . .
Everly's POV
"Excuse me, excuse me." I said into the open air as I brushed past people, "Excuse me."
The light hum of voices was a given at the place I was at, but I had to look for a crowd of teenage girls, because that was where he was. The airport was packed, which didn't surprise me, but it was going to be nearly impossible to find him. Above that, it was literally going to be impossible for him to see me.
Finally, I heard loud screams from the terminal across the one I was at. Running over there, I tried to push my way towards where everyone was directing their attention at. It felt like deja vu from the concert at over again, but this time, it was going to be different.
The girls who were in front of me were not letting me budge through, even with the amount of force I applied. So, I resorted to my last option.
"My flight's about to leave!" I shouted, and immediately, to my disbelief, they looked back and made way for me.
It worked so well, that I was able to make my way towards the front. But I didn't realize that the men in front of me were large bodyguards, because I had ran into them along the way as well.
"Woah, woah." A pair of hands held me up before I could fall, and the voice was all that was on my mind for me to forget, especially when it was him, "Are you okay?"
"Haruto." I softly spoke under my breath. His eyes peered into mine for a moment before I snapped out of it, "Sorry."
We were in front of all his fans, and as much as I wanted to kiss him right then and there, I had a feeling that the consequences he would have after wouldn't be worth it, for him at least. So instead, I just slipped a note of my own into his pocket before pulling myself away from his grasp.
Haruto stared at me, not saying a word. He was confused now, but everything would make sense when he read the note.
And so I couldn't help but have a small smile on my face as I walked away.
