Steve rushed into the hospital. He ignored the glares of the staff and other visitors, he needed to find you. You were in an accident. Steve was waiting for you at the restaurant when he got the call from Clint.
"Where is Y/n l/n's room?"
The receptionist glanced up at the man. "Hold on." She said before looking it up. "I'm sorry but you can't visit this patient at the moment. Doctors are doing some tests. So please take a seat in the waiting room." She explained.
Steve nodded, "thank you." He said before heading to the small waiting area. He noticed the other visitors were staring at him. All he could do was ignore them. His mind was racing.
The minutes were passing slowly.
"Steve?"
His head snapped up at the sound of his name. Natasha stood in front of him, worry filled her face. He quickly stood up. "Have you heard anything?" He asked.
The red haired woman nodded, "According to several witness reports, she was hit head on. The other driver was at fault." She said.
"Where is everyone else?"
"Tony is planning on covering all the bills and threatening to sue the driver. Wanda is at the compound with Vision, Clint, Thor and Bruce. Sam and Bucky are outside parking the car. We thought we could take turns so it wouldn't be overwhelming." She explained.
Steve sighed before sitting down. "Thank you." He looked at his friend. Natasha took the seat next to him before holding his hand.
The pair fell in silence as they waited. It didn't take long after that when Sam and Bucky arrived. The hours passed and all of them were on the edge of their seats. The silence was almost unbearable.
Bucky glanced over at Steve. He looked like he was about to breakdown, he needed to do something. "You guys remember last Christmas?" The question surprised everyone. "I still have that scarf y/n made me. It was funny to see all of us walking around with those scarves." He smiled.
"Especially since she just started knitting." Sam added. "The patterns were all mismatched and she constantly apologized but he reassured her that it was okay." He chuckled.
The memory made all of them smile.
Before anyone could add anything else a doctor walked up to them. "I'm guessing you're the family of Y/n L/n?" He asked. Everyone stood up. "Good news is that she's awake at the moment and you guys can see her, but one at a time. But the tests we did show brain trauma. So take it easy on her." He said. "Who's going first?" He looked around.
Steve stepped forward.
"Follow me then."
The doctor tried to make small talk but Steve couldn't bring himself to pay attention. You were his only priority at the moment. He just had to see you.
They finally arrived to the room. The doctor knocked on the door before stepping in. "Hello Miss. L/N, there is someone here to see you." He smiled at her before looking at Steve. "I'll leave you two alone." He shook his hand before walking off.
Steve took a deep breath before stepping into the room. Just one look of you made him want to break down. You looked so fragile and weak. He wanted to get his hands on the driver who did this to you.
"Hey."
He snapped out of his thoughts. You were looking at him. Curiosity was written over your face.
"Hey."
The room was painfully silent. He didn't know what to say. He didn't want to upset you or anything so he pulled a chair up to the bed.
"Just wow." You smiled slightly.
Steve took your hand in his, "What is it?" He smiled back at you.
"Today must be my lucky day." You said. The look of confusion on Steve's face prompted you to continue. "I mean it's not everyday you get to meet Captain America." You explained.
Steve chuckled to himself before lifting your hand up and placing a kiss on it. Though to his surprise you pulled away. "What is it?" He asked.
"I'm sorry Captain Rogers but I think you should leave. I mean it was very thoughtful of you to to stop by but I don't that this is okay." You said.
"What are you talking about?"
"We barely know each other, that's what I'm talking about." You explained. The monitors hooked up to you started beeping loudly. "So will you please leave me alone?"
A nurse rushed in to check on you. "Ma'am don't worry we got you. Just relax now." She said soothing your arm. Once she noticed you relaxed she turned to Steve. "I think visiting hours are over. So please leave before I have someone escort you out." She stated before turning back to you.
Steve stood up slowly. The walk back to the waiting room was a daze he almost didn't stop until Bucky grabbed him.
"What's going on?" He asked. "Steve?" He said again this time getting his attention.
"She doesn't remember me. Well she does but not our relationship." He explained. "I, uh. I'm going to stay here until I hear something from the doctor." He added before sitting down.
The other three looked at each other. There was no way they were going to leave that hospital either.
