"Say that you love me too."
"I love you."
A smile quickly etched on his face followed by a faint flush on his cheeks. That moment seemed to be utter bliss until the light flickered on in my parent's bedroom.
"You need to get out of here!"
His smile and blush suddenly faded and was replaced with sorrow and pain. He knew what would have happened if the racist duo saw us together. Before he sprinted off he planted a light peck on my cheek. I felt a fiery sensation on that cheek for what seemed like an eternity, but in the process I was climbing stealthily up the side of the balcony.
I knew that I couldn't be 'sleep' in bed before one of them came to check on me so I crept into the dangling chair and pulled the blanket over my body and slightly over my face. It felt as if my cheeks were two plump tomatoes. Soon, mom came in and looked for me and when she saw me 'asleep' on the terrace she grinned and walked away. How could we be on such tense terms and she still smiles when I'm resting? Parents are so weird.
When my mind finally eased my thoughts found Michael. He loves me and I love him? If this is true, how is this going to work. "Love always finds a way," my subconscious says to console me. "Only in fairy tales, my love," I shortly reply. Sometimes I wish that I lived in a fairy tale and then all of the ignorance of the world would be rid of in seconds.
How beatific.
Wake up, Anna this is the real world. You can't do anything about that. But love does find away. Make that way.
