Gerard kneeled in front of the priest, begging for forgiveness. He had committed a sin, breaking his promise to remain celibate. He looked into the priest's eyes, searching for any signs of sympathy. There was none.
"Gerard Way, you have broken your vow to remain celibate. From this day forth, you are banned from the Church of God." he said, his booming voice filling the room. He was showing no mercy towards Gerard, who was now seething with rage.
He stood up, dusting off his pants. He shot one last glare at the priest and fled the room as dramatically as possible, being the sassy type of person he was. The moment he stepped outside the church's door, he felt a gust of cold wind.
He stepped in his car, grateful for the heater. Gerard pulled out his phone, dialing Frank's number. After a few rings, he picked up.
"Hey, how'd it go?" he asked, concern clear in his voice.
"I have been excommunicated. Those bastards do not understand the concept of rape." Gerard hissed through the speaker.
"You know what, fuck them! Who needs that church?" Frank said, trying to cheer up his friend.
"We could start our own religion. Our own church.'' Gerard stated in a deadly serious tone.
"H-how would we do that?" Frank stuttered, not quite understanding.
"Think about it. All the people that have ever been banned from that church were like us. Outcasts, misfits'.... freaks... We could be a home for them. A church for the so- called 'unholy'." Gerard said, raising his voice.
"You never really worshipped God, anyways. You always prayed to Elena." Frank said, adding to the heat of moment and making Gerard's idea seem even more logical.
Gerard smirked and hung up the phone, not bothering to say goodbye. He turned the key in the ignition and drove home to his fiance, Lyn-z.
------
Gerard hopped through the front door, freezing in the cold New Jersey air. Lyn-z stood in the kitchen, a cup of hot coffee ready. She gave him a sympathetic look, already knowing what had gone down today. He sat down on the couch and wrapped his chilled hands around the mug.
"Aww, babe. Are you okay?" Lyn-z said, curling up next to him.
"Yes, I'm fine. I'm actually great. So, I had this idea and I wanted to share it with you." he said. Lyn-z gestured for him to move on and he explained in full detail what he planned to do. She nodded enthusiatically the entire time, completely on board with the situation.
The next day was the start of the Black Parade tour and as Gerard stepped on his tour bus, he had an uneasy feeling in his stomach. Almost like he just knew something bad was about to happen. He decided to ignore it, taking a nap instead.
Gerard, Frank, Ray, Mikey, and Bob woke with a jolt. Gerard had just enough time to register in his mind what exactly was happening just as the bus spun out of control. He banged his head on the floor and was knocked unconscious.
The band awoke in Frank's home, having no recollection of what happened or how they got there. Lyn-z hovered over them, watching intently. Her eyes widened as she saw their eyes flutter open.
"Holy shit! Thank god, you guys are alive!" she shouted, hugging them all. Her eyes flickered to the tv screen, which was currently showing them the news. Across the screen, in big red letters, it read: MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE DEAD IN A TERRIBLE TOUR BUS ACCIDENT
Gerard sat up, focusing intently on the screen. As he continued to watch, he learned that fans everywhere, including Mindless Self Indulgence fans, were denying that they were dead and claiming to have spotted them walk away from the scene of the incident.
The police say this is impossible, as they found five burnt bodies. Unrecognizable, but it had to have been them, considering the only other person on the bus was the driver himself, who had survived.
"So, we are dead to the world except for our fans." Frank said, trying to comprehend everything that was going on.
"No, we are dead to the world except for the members of Church of Sorrows." Gerard said with force.
"That's it, Mindless is breaking up. We are going to be the followers of this religion as well." Lyn-z said, smiling.
Gerard stood up and ran to the car, everyone else going after him. They drove for miles and parked at the edge of a forest, walking until they found a very large clearing. Gee looked all around him and raised his arms. He took a deep breath and focused on a building. He imagined a large black cathedral in front of him, willing for it to materialize.
He felt a tug in his gut and heard the sounds of the wind growing stronger. He kept his eyes closed and gritted his teeth. The pain in his gut became more severe, but he endured it. All of a sudden, the wind died down and he heard gasps from behind him.
He opened his eyes and in front of him stood a large black cathedral, exactly like the one he had imagined. Above the door was a statue of a familiar looking woman, the name plaque reading: Our Lady of Sorrows. He stared at the statue, trying to figure out where he had seen it before. Mikey came up behind him, tears flowing from his eyes.
"Gerard... it's her. It's Elena. Our grandmother.... she is the figurehead of our new religion." Mikey whispered, not taking his eyes off of the statue.
It was carved from black stone. Elena had her head down and she was praying. It was, of course, a younger version of their grandmother. Honestly, she looked beautiful. She deserved this. She deserved to be immortalized in stone and in religion.
Gerard smirked and sauntered up to the doors, pushing them open and breathing in that 'new church smell'.
A/N: And that, my dear children, was the beginning of our story. We hope you enjoy!
