Just another day

Her hand slowly ran back through his hair, tugging him backwards and pulling them apart vigorously, before pushing her body back against his. "I love you Jac!"
"I love you t-" Jac awoke pushing herself up from her pillow in shock before she could finish her sentence. This was the third time she had dreamt of Fletch this week... 'what's going on? What am I doing?' She thought to herself as she forced herself out of bed to get ready for another day of work. She opened her closet and threw on one of the many black blouses she owned before grabbing her boots and rushing into Emma's room. "Wake up sweetie, we have to get you to school early or mommy's going to be late for her very important meeting!" Emma turned over showing signs of distress and pain. "Mommy I don't feel very well."
But Emma I-"
"Please mommy." Emma softly said knowing it would change Jac's mind.
"Fine. I guess your coming to work with me!"

Jac arrived at work around 7:15 knowing she was late for her meeting, she rushed into her office taking off her coat and throwing her paperwork on her desk before placing Emma on the sofa. "Now you have to be a very good girl for mommy okay and-" before Jac could finish her sentence the door swung open and in came...
"Uncle Fletch!"
"Hey little one." He said before swinging her around him and squeezing her.
"How many times Emma it's Fletch. Just Fletch!"
"Oooo mommy's not very happy now is she?"
"Just look after her please, I'm late for a meeting."
"Anything for you miss Naylor." He said proudly with a grin across his face. Jac rolled her eyes dramatically before leaving the room, Turing to see Emma happily play fighting with Fletch, a smile crept across her face before she turned and carried on walking towards the lift.

Around two hours later Jac arrived back at her office and flung herself back onto her chair. Pure silence... until "Jac. How was the meeting?" Fletch announced as he arrived through the door. "Hello Adrian,nice to see you too." She said whilst raising a single eyebrow before continuing her sentence. "Fine... I mean as good as can be expected."
"Great, great. Emma's just in the staff room with Petrenko if you want me to go and get her?"
"No she'll be fine. Besides we need to talk..."
He took a step closer before brushing her hair back behind her ear and saying "about?"
"Oh don't be immature Adrian." She said moving away from him whilst doing so.
"Fine, you know how I feel. I mean I showed you pretty well when we kissed."
"I know. And I meant what I said. If I was going to be with anyone I would want it to be you, but I can't fletch. With everything that's happened this year the surgery, Emma, your kids, I can't put you all through that!"
He smiled and moved closer, kissing her forehead And whispering "I know, but I'm here when you change your mind." He turned leaving the office in one long stride. "Just come and find me." He muttered while turning and shutting the door as he left.
