I sometimes think back to how I was helping Kassandra get through this and I begin to wonder if what I said to her was the right thing or not. I knew what he was doing to her and that she needed to figure out how to overcome all her confusion, but I know for a fact that things could've ended differently. Anyway, here's chapter 23.
I ignored Kassandra for a day or two, but we are still best friends and won't let anyone come between us. Especially, when it comes to a self centered boy that only wants the nearest person. My group of friends even stopped him from coming back to the group after the whole lunch event. Apparently, when I left the group when they all forgave him, he tried to go after me, but everyone told him to leave me alone and that something is wrong with him for never listening to me when I keep saying to leave me alone.
Well, not everyone said that. It was more of Kassandra and Illyanna telling him this. Once Amaya forgave him, the others seemed to only speak when she did. Still, it made me a bit happy when Kassandra and Illyanna told him to back off from following me.
That was the last day that he came to the group. That was the last time he even came around me or the group.
After some time had passed, Kassandra and I talked for hours during a sleepover about what she should do about him. He was still trying to contact Kassandra and convince her that he only had feelings for her. Kassandra was still confused on how she felt, but when I confronted her on if she actually liked him, she couldn't say that she wanted to be with him.
"Do you just like that he is giving you attention?" I asked her as we laid on her bedroom floor. Kassandra looked off to the side and I already knew that the answer was yes. I let out a sigh and sat up to look at her fully. "Lady, you don't need someone like him to make you feel special. Yeah, it is nice to get attention from a guy and it can definitely make you happy with all the sweet words he sends," I cringed when I said those words because, I immediately thought of Aristotle. "But that doesn't mean is the one for you. Besides, you can do so much better than him. I'm sure there are a lot of guys that are wanting to be with you."
"No, there are not." Kassandra replies with a sad laugh following. Kassandra has always been called beautiful or known to be one of the best looking girls in our grade. When I used to be apart of a large guy group, they would tell me that Kassandra was good-looking, but nothing more. Kassandra has heard people compliment her before, but for some reason, not many guys approached her or even asked her out. He was one of the first guys to show her this type of attention, but I still tried to tell Kassandra that he was not the right one for her.
And Kassandra knew he wasn't.
