Yunlan and Shen Wei's fathers are business partners and friends. One day, a famous business magazine published that there are rumors about the breakup of their partnership. It leads to the rapid fall in their value of shares. So they both decided to marry their children even they are both guys. They simply wished it was up to them now whether to continue their married life or not.

They immediately made an announcement to the public that they aren't breaking up their partnership; moreover they are now becoming a family and rushed the marriage within a week. They didn't even ask for Yunlan's and Shen's opinion on that and both Yunlan and Shen didn't object.
Shen Wei is a university professor and Yunlan took up the business as his father. They both lived separately in their own apartments before marriage. But as Yunlan had to help his father with the present problem in the business, he had to stay with him for a while. He doesn't want to leave newly married Shen alone and they were staying in Zhao's family house until they deal with that business.

After driving for some time, he slowed the car and parked it by the side of the road where there was no one else. He turned to Shen asked him in a gentle and apologetic tone. "Are you alright love, I'm sorry for making you suffer these days!!"
Shen was shocked by hearing that. What does he mean? How does he know that he's been suffering these days? I thought he never loved me and cared for me, but how can he know?

Yunlan's father got remarried when his wife passed away. So literally she is Yunlan's step mom.
She was very dissatisfied with the marriage and never appreciated him for anything he does to please his mother in law. She always speaks with him sarcastically which made him sad. He spends his day in the university. But after returning to their house, he felt so lonely there. Yunlan and his father Zhao Xin Ci were always at office or on calls when they are at home. Shen didn't have any one in that house to share his thoughts or burden. It never felt like his home. So, he didn't make any attempts to bridge the gap in their relationship. He just thought let the nature take its course. They were just two strangers in a single room.
