Chapter 16: The Heat Badge

"Alright!" I exclaimed. "It's Lavaridge Town!"

"I must admit, Milani. You were accurate with your directions this time." Drew said. "Of course, without me, you still would have gotten lost."

"Yeah...I shall never again doubt your sense of direction." I said sarcastically. After what happened in the desert, I felt like it's better to be sarcastic around Drew rather than trying to fight with him.

Well...we're finally in Lavaridge Town. It wasn't easy going here. There were so many paths you could possibly go to. Good thing we have our PokéNavs and the Route 111-113 map the Winstrates gave to us. Without those, we might have gotten to Fallarbor Town instead, and Drew would force me to stay there until his contest is over.

Along the way, I battled some trainers using my newer Pokémon. While battling this camper girl named Melanie (yes everybody, she's the real Melanie, not me), my Surskit evolved into a Masquerain. Whoop-dee-doo!

"Ok! Let's go to the gym, Drew!" I exclaimed.

"Slow down, Milani. I thought a smart trainer would go to the Pokémon Center first. Besides, you haven't healed your Pokémon yet. Plus, you should call home first to do a finalization of your team." Drew said.

"Ugh...right. Let's go then."

We went to the Pokémon Center...and it has a hot spring?!?! How cool...erm...hot is that? Lavaridge Town is like spa paradise. I also saw some people getting sand baths. Wow. I gotta try those before we leave.

"Wow!" I said while looking at the guide. "Lavaridge Town has it all! We have to visit these places after my gym battle."

"Your gym battle better not take long then. I don't want you making me late for my contest in Fallarbor." Drew replied.

"Sure...look at this!"

"The Atria Bakery and Café...what about it?"

"It says here that they actually made the world famous Lava Cookies. They also sell hot buns and other pastries here!"

"Well...you have to admit. The Lava Cookies are tempting. They said that it can also be used to heal any status condition of a Pokémon."

"That's why I need lots of these to-go!!! My Pokémon always eat berries or get sprayed by Full Heal every time they get a status condition. This is perfect!"

"Chansey!" The Pokémon Center's Chansey exclaimed as she returned my Pokémon.

"Thanks, Chansey." I said. "Alright! Let's go to the Lavaridge gym!"

"Aren't you doing some training first?" Drew asked.

"We did that in Route 111 and 112. We can do this."

I dragged Drew as we left the Pokémon Center.

'CLOSED'

"WHAT?!?!?! I can't believe the gym is closed today." I said in disbelief.

"Hey, they have to relax too, don't they?" Drew said. "I suggest you do the same. After all, there are a lot of places you can go to here in Lavaridge. Of course, you could do some training too."

"Awww..." I said as a young woman approached us.

"Is there something wrong?" She asked. "If you're looking for the gym leader, he's taking his day off today." She said.

"Oh...thank you. We'll just come back tomorrow." I said.

"Good! I'll tell grampa to pencil you in for tomorrow!"
