Clap. Clap. Clap.
The slow, deliberate slap of his hands resounded through the room as Bardolf stalked towards Kay. Anger boiled up inside her as she saw her mate and realized that even in this close proximity she still could not feel him.
"Well done. I'm impressed. Truly." Smirked Colt. "Now, be a good girl and do as I say."
"I didn't take orders from him when I was kidnapped the first time. So what makes you think I'll take orders from you?" She retorted, lifting her chin.
"Because I'm not your mate and I will hurt you... and him." He smiled sadistically.
Glancing at Alaric, "fine" she replied as her mind raced to figure out a way to free her mate without the use of her powers. Rising slowly from her chair she made her way carefully towards her mate, resent and resignation masking her features. Colt laughed maniacally as for the first time the fire seemed to go out in her eyes.
"Not so fast." He sneered, jerking her arm as she neared her mate. She gritted her jaw and averted her gaze as he continued "you're coming with me. Men," he addressed his men but kept his eyes on Kay, "let's go." As he turned to pull Kay back towards the exit she swung her left arm up, breaking his grip, and spun into a right side kick. Caught off guard, Colt stumbled back and Kay took the opportunity to dart forward, slipping a knife from under her shirt, and cut loose Alaric's bonds in one quick fluid motion.
Turning again, the knife flew from her hand, straight for Bardolf's heart. His reflexes were quicker than she had anticipated though and he moved at the last second causing her blade to miss it's mark and bury itself deep in his shoulder instead. As he howled in pain, Alaric took the opportunity to lunge at him, pinning him to the ground with a clawed hand at his throat. Before anyone could make another move however, a deafening crash sounded as the front wall came tumbling down, Chase's car plowing straight through it. Kay failed to stifle a startled scream and Alaric instinctively flew over to shield her from the chunks of wall pelting the occupants of the room.
Tires squealing to a stop, "get in!" demanded Chase as he fired his gun through his window, peppering the rouges as his cousin and Alaric jumped in the back seat. As soon as their door was shut Chase hit the gas, burning rubber as they tore through the rubble and away from the rouge base.
"You idiot! I had him!" Bellowed Alaric as Chase berated Kay, glaring through the rear view mirror. "What the shiznits is wrong with you?! You tied me up in my car?! We had a plan Kay!"
"You will not speak to my mate that way!" Growled Alaric.
Placing a hand on Alaric arm to calm him Kay addressed her cousin. "Chase, look me in the eye and tell me you would not have fired at Alaric."
Chase opened his mouth once or twice as if to say something before averting his gaze with a huff.
"That's what I thought. Now, what about Colt. What happened?"
"I don't know, when the wall came crashing down I..." sigh "my first priority is protecting you" admitted Alaric, looking unapologetically into Kay's eyes.
"He and the one from Rock Creek shifted and made a run for it. In all the commotion they escaped. I managed to hit one of them." Said Chase "but I'm not sure which one"
"So he escaped" growled Alaric "No thanks to you. If you hadn't come crashing through when you did I'd have ripped his throat out!"
"If I hadn't come when I did you would be beyond saving right now! Not that I care what happens to you," argued Chase "but I promised to look out for my cousin."
"Enough!" Came a soft, feminine voice from the front passenger seat. Soft, but full of authority. It was then that Alaric noticed the she-wolf with them in the car. Kay felt a pang of guilt, she had almost forgotten all about Natalia in the heat of the moment. "Chase acted because I asked him to. There was an entire army of rouges on their way and we were out of time."
"What?" Kay blinked back in surprise.
"Look," she sighed, "I know you will have a lot of questions, which I will be more than willing to answer, but first we need to get to the Rock Creek Pack and warn them. Colt is planning a war, beginning at Rock Creek, and I'm the only one with the knowledge to stop him. That's why I was down in those cells. I know too much."
"How much?" Asked Alaric.
"... everything."
"Nat and I have already been over what steps need to be taken if Colt got away before we got y'all out of there." Stated Chase, surprising Kay at his use of Natalia's name. "I'll drop you off at Rock Creek's border then I have my own work to see to."
