I looked at the time on the digital clock. 2:37 am. Why can't I fucking sleep? I thought. I let out a shuddering and anguished sigh as I sat up. I hate my brain... I looked over and Gavir was sound asleep. His back was towards me, so I couldn't see his beautiful face. I could only imagined what it would've looked like in the beautiful and pale moonlight that poured into the bedroom. I can't stay here... I thought again. I got up and left the bedroom as quietly as possibly. I closed the door and felt my way into the living room. All I had to do was walk straight, but I was still cautious about any possible thing that could be in the way.
It was almost completely dark other than a little bit of moonlight slipping through the blinds of the windows. I could feel myself standing in the middle of the room. It felt weird just standing in the dark despite being in that kind of situation before. I closed my eyes and did a 180. Then I heard my conscience whisper, Forward... I walked forward with my hands stuck out. There it is... I dragged my hand down a door and gripped the knob. Open it and go...That's when I opened my eyes with a gasp. "The hell am I doing?" I whispered to myself.
I waked away from the door and found myself in the middle of the living room again. I looked all around, curious to find anything interesting. And that's when I saw it for the first time. The piano. They must've brought it inside when I was taking a shower or lying down or something. I didn't ever notice it. I had never seen one in real life. Only in pictures.
I sat down on the bench in front of it and just feasted my eyes on the beautiful instrument. I touched the keys in just the slightest way. When I put more force on one of them, there was a high-pitched noise that made me jump. I almost laughed out loud. "Wow..." I quietly gasped in awe. I heard the floorboards creak in the hallway that made me turn my head quick as if I were an owl. It was just Gavir, so I wasn't worried or anything. He walked into the living room, running his fingers through his hair. "What are you doing out here?" he incoherently yawned. I snickered at his state. He could barely walk straight because of how tired he was. I found it cute.
"I couldn't sleep..." I replied."It's really late..."
"I know... My brain is just... overactive, I guess."
"You really don't ever sleep, do you?"
"No. I can go out of consciousness, but I don't sleep."
Gavir sighed and sat next to me. "Do you play?"
I shook my head and answered, "It'd be lovely if I could." He looked me right in the eyes when I say that."Why do you say?"
"If I had a decent skill, I wouldn't be so fucked up."
"You're not fucked up, Nocturno."
"No, no... I am. And you don't know even know half of it. You have no idea."
The cabin was void of any sound other than the whistling breeze from outside. "What about you?" I asked.
"What do you mean," Gavir replied.
"Do you play piano?" Gavir shrugged, trying to make it seem less than what it was.
"I used to... I was never really that good."
"Well, I bet you were amazing."
"Nah... Not really."
"Gavir..."
We stared into each other's eyes and I could feel my heart pounding as my heart rate quickened. "Play something for me." I said. "Are you– they're sleeping." Gavir stuttered.
