Karma sat, leaning over the railing on the side of the bridge, looking out over the vast, dark ocean. It sparkled in the moonlight, stars glittering across the sky, just out of reach. It had only been a day since left home with his brothers, but he was already regretting it. He knew it was supposed to be exciting, leaving home to find your own calling. The issue was, Karma didn't have much of a choice with his life. He was supposed to be heading to the Reaper council, like every other Reaper did on their 12th birthday. Except it was different for him. He had already gained the hunger for human flesh and souls, when he was 9. Just like his brothers. That was part of being royalty. Apparently it had been the same for his father, though neither his father or either of his 2 brothers was a Reaper, like him. So, he would be alone at the ceremony. He had to go, though. He had to. Or they would kill him. Or, that was what his father at told him at least.
"Karma! Let's go!" Kye yelled from a distance away, on the other side of the bridge. Karma headed towards him and his younger brother, Zarron, and they started walking down the road in the dark forest. They were only there to get to the rendezvous point. Then they would go to their own ceremonies, and leave Karma alone. Alone to fend for himself, and deal with the stalking eyes of the other Reapers, as he, the Heir and possible successor to the throne stood there among them, almost asking to be slaughtered and thrown off his platform of power. That's what he was afraid of. Karma didn't ask to be royalty, and frankly, he didn't care if he became the next King. He just wanted to be alive. He looked around, studying the blackened and dead trees surrounding them. They headed up a mountain, the surrounding trees seeming to get darker, some even actually on fire, not just burnt. Eventually, they were met at a clearing in an indent in the mountain, with different paths surrounding them in a semi-circle. Reaper in the middle, Dragonair to the left of it, Spiritwatcher after that, and Elemental to the far left, Kitsune to the direct right of Reaper, Succubus and Incubus doubling as one path after that, and Changeling to finish off the right side. There are two other Demon types, these being Lord and Heir. Only ever one Lord at a time, and is the King of The Demons. In this case, the Lord and King was his and his brothers' father. The Heir, is a type that the offspring of the Lord can inherit, on top of their main type. It allows them the power of Shadows, which allows them more strength if they become the Lord one day, though an of the male offspring of the Lord can become King, and it's not guaranteed that it would be the Heir. In this case, Zarron is an Heir, though his main type is Dragonair. Karma glances at Kye and Zarron. "Good luck." Zarron said, before heading his appropriate path. "See you never!" Kye responded, before doing the same, Karma starting up his last. Karma to the Reaper path, straight ahead, Kye to the Kitsune path to the Right of him, and Zarron to the Dragonair path to the left of him. The paths were separate from eachother, a thick mass of dark ash covered trees hiding the other paths from the one Karma was set on. There was no turning back now. He couldn't run. He had to continue forward. He was all alone now.
