"What can I get you?" I asked the teenager before me in a bored tone.
"Veggie lover, please. Two slices." You really think a Veggie Lover has any less calories than a normal pizza, sweetheart? It's still filled to the brim with carbs and mostly empty calories. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at the airheaded girl and served up the slices she'd asked for.
"Have fun." Jeez. How can I still have so many pizzas left? These kids way overestimated their classmates' stomachs.
"You're not having fun serving food to this lot, I see." I turned my eyes to look upon a beautiful, model-type girl with long blonde hair that looked like it had been kissed by the sun.
"High school parties weren't my thing even when I was in high school." I answered her honestly.
"I told Alice we shouldn't have gotten catering. But she insisted and once Alice gets started about a party, there's no stopping her. I'm sorry you got roped into this." She apologized.
"It's fine. I'm making more now than I normally would. As long as I'm getting paid for my work, I'm happy."
"I'm Rosalie, by the way. I'm sure my siblings told you nothing about the house. If you need to use a restroom for any reason, please use one of the private ones on the third floor. Less likely for any of our classmates to bother you that way."
"Thank you, Rosalie. I'll keep that in mind."
"Rose, are you bothering BO while she's trying to ignore our classmates and trivial high school problems?" Edward asked of her as he draped his arm over her shoulder.
"Not at all. In fact, she's the only one who mentioned a bathroom that I could use that wouldn't have a high school boy waling in on me." I contradicted.
"My apologies. I thought Alice would have mentioned something."
"No worries, Edward. Things happen. Are no one of you going to eat any of the pizza you ordered? You're going to have a lot left over." I pondered. I waited for an answer while Edward and Rosalie shared a look.
"We had a big lunch before we started getting ready for the party." Rosalie finally put in. I brushed off the weird looks and passed a greasy looking boy a few slices of Meat Lover.
"I have to wonder Bo; how were you able to tell Jasper was from Texas, specifically?" Edward questioned me with a quirk of his brow. I felt my eye twitch.
"For one, he was wrong in assuming I was a Southern Belle. There are no Southern Belles in most of the south except for certain areas of Texas. Couple that with the way his voice lilts around his consonants and twangs his vowels. We all have variations in our accents, even if we're from the same state. I don't sound the same as a lot of people back home in Alabama." I explained.
"So, the little lady is from Alabama? I hear they have good football down there." The giant, Emmett, joined us. I turned to him with a fake sweet smile.
"We don't have good football, we have great football. Best damn team in the South-Eastern Conference, defense, offense, and special teams." I replied.
"Yeah, I heard Auburn was a good team." The giant of a boy commented with a smirk. I blinked at him a few times before opening my mouth.
"You must be into football for the cheerleaders. Admit it, there's no need to be ashamed; plenty of people only watch the sport for he cheerleaders." Tension crackled Edward and Rosalie choked back laughter. When Emmett stared at me with wide eyes, I explained. "I assume this because you mistakenly said Auburn was the best in the SEC when the answer is always Bama."
"I have to disagree with you, Darlin'. Texas Longhorns are where it's at." Jasper interrupted as he joined us as well.
"Look, Longhorns may be good, but they're not in the SEC so I'm not talking about them. Still insulted by that Auburn comment, since they were my rival school for so long." I informed the two boys. Edward had a secretive smile in place as I looked around the room, guessing which student would be in what kind of occupation. Suddenly, I spotted Dave in the crowd, eyeballing a manic princess girl. You have got to be kidding me! This is where he was the whole time? He came here instead of coming to work! Are you fucking kidding me?! Little bastard is getting paid for his days and he's partying and staling some chick! I'd like to throttle him! Now I'm really glad I finally convince Jim to fire his sorry ass! "Will you all excuse me a moment? I need to take care of something." I interrupted the silent conversation they were having to excuse myself. On a mission, I stormed to where Dave was hiding by a wall. "Can I have a word with you, Dave?" I demanded.
"Dave, dude, you've been holding out on us. Where'd you snag the babe?" A boy beside him commented.
"Thanks, hun, but I don't date younger men. Dave, a word." Finally he followed me out the front door. "I'm glad you followed me so I don't have to tell you this in front of your friends. I've been pushing for this since you stopped coming to work and Jim finally agreed with me. You won't be needed at work anymore. You're fired. You'll get your last paycheck on payday and that's it. Now, I'm going to do the job you were supposed to. Oh, and you're not getting a cut of tonight." I shot over my shoulder as I made my way into the house.
"Problem with one of our guests?" Edward questioned when I rejoined them.
"No, just informing him of his termination. It's handled."
"We can ask him to leave if you like" Rosalie offered.
"That won't be necessary. He's not a troublemakers, he's just a major slacker. Sorry, I'm taking up all your time at your own party. Don't let me distract you from your party; I need to get back to work, anyway."
