I woke with a giant stretch and crawled out of my crowded bed, dragging my feet as I avoided stepping on the pack members laying about on my floor. Good thing I set some clothes aside last night. There's no way I was getting into my closet today. I made my way to the laundry room and threw on the t-shirt and shorts, slipping on tennis shoes as I stepped out the back door. Maybe on my hike I can find where to lead the newborns to. As I jogged through the woods, I kept an eye out for any large clearing far enough away from town to be useful to us.
Half an hour passed before I found a decent clearing in the woods. At, at least, three times the size of a football field both ways and near the base of a mountain, the clearing I had stopped in boasted everything we needed for the fight to come. This will be perfect for the fight with the newborn army. I took a deep breath as I folded myself to the ground to sit. Focus. I have to get to the root of my scent.
I sat for hours, not moving from the middle of the clearing as I focused on letting my scent permeate the air. When I was sure that the smell would be thick enough, I opened my eyes. It smells like... the clearing smells like Emmett. Is that why no one back home would tell me what I smell like? Because I smell like a hunter? No. Focus, Bo. You finally know who your mate is, and why everyone refused to help you. Now, how to go about telling him that he's my mate. What would be the best way?
"Bo, you're back. What took you so long?" Liam called out when he saw me returning to the Cullen home.
"I told you guys last night that I needed to meditate, Liam."
"Yeah, but you were gone all day. Derek made us run drills." He complained.
"Liam, don't complain. The last time I complained, Derek broke my wrist." Isaac advised as he joined the two of us outside. "Everyone is waiting for you inside. Alice says she caught a glimpse of you earlier today."
"Thanks, Isaac. I'll be inside in a minute." As soon as the two boys went inside, I focused on my thoughts. Stay out of my head, Edward. I need my thoughts to be private. Taking a deep breath to center myself, I made my way inside the house. "Good, everyone's here. I found a clearing that will be perfect to lead the newborns to. And, Edward, as much as you don't like it, I'm sure the person behind this is Victoria. She'll think Bella is your mate, and she'll follow your scent. I have a plan."
"We're all ears, Bo." Carlisle spoke up.
"We're going to need some of Bella's clothes, and a tent. Edward and I will go up the mountain with Jacob. Victoria will follow Edward's scent and we'll catch her then. When we've dealt with her, we'll join you in the clearing. We're going to have Bella walk around the clearing tomorrow after graduation and spread around a few drops of her blood. You all don't care for the La Push packs' scent, so the newborns will hate it and avoid it. So Jake will wait at the edge of the clearing and take Bella home afterwards. Bella can tell her father that she's spending the weekend with Emily."
"That is exceptionally well thought out, Bo." Esme complimented.
"Yeah, well," I scratched at the side of my nose, "I am the second born vixen. I have a head for strategy."
"I think it will work." Alice said.
"Jasper?" Carlisle asked.
"Bella's scent and blood will make them lose focus and send them into a frenzy. We'll have an even larger advantage. It's a sound strategy."
