What did she say?
She has what?
Michael was at lost for words. He was at lost to say anything right at that moment. He was trying to let it all sink in. Those words. Her words. Is this what Giuliana been trying to tell him? That mommy hasn't been feeling well? She was just only three years old but very intelligent to say the least. She knew when something wasn't right.
And from the looks of things, it wasn't.
Now it all explains her weight loss, her hair thinning out, the look of weakness that so happened to give her illness away. But the question was... did she have it in the beginning of their relationship? Why she didn't tell him that she was a victim of cancer from the start? What was this going to leave them now? Is she dying? Michael had so many questions to ask her, he didn't know where to begin to ask them. Not with the news she just told him.
Eventually, he will get to that later.
"You have cancer?" He asks her, shocked.
He doesn't know why when she clearly just told him. Maybe he just wanted to make sure of it.
"Yes, Michael. Look, I should have told you this the moment we got together, I just...I thought that maybe since I had chemotherapy and the cancer went into remission and everything that the thought of telling you didn't matter and-"
"Then why didn't you tell me then, Geena? Huh?" He raises his voice slightly.
He wasn't planning on yelling at her. He didn't want to make her feel bad. It's just the mere thought that at the time they were husband and wife. He deserved to know about anything of that such and not be left in the back on something as life threatening as that. She knew that.
"Michael, I'm sorry."
Michael shakes his head, dismissing her apology. "No, I didn't ask for an apology, Ge. I asked you a simple question. Why didn't you tell me then? Why keep me on the back burner on something like this? Was I not important to you to know? I strongly believe I was. I was your husband, Geena."
"Michael," she stresses, "I know that..okay. I know. I didn't keep it from you just 'cause you weren't important to me. You were. It's just at the time it didn't matter. I was better then and I..." She sighs and Michael could see the tears slowly making their way down her cheeks.
He didn't mean to make he cry. He really didn't. He just wanted to know why she left him out on that. He cared for her whether or not they were together. He still cared deeply for her and her well-being. He huffs while shaking his head and scoots over on the sofa a little closer to Geena. He grabs her hand, holding it in his.
He takes his free hand and uses his thumb to wipe her tears away. "Geena, sweetie, it's okay, okay? I didn't mean to make you cry. I just..I just got a little upset."
She shakes her head at his words. If anything and anyone, she should be the one saying sorry. She didn't tell him about her cancer in the beginning when he deserved to know. She looks into his eyes and sees nothing but care in them.
"Michael, no. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for keeping this from you. I should have told you from the start. And I'm sorry."
"Geena, it's okay. Look, at least you told me now, right?"
Geena nods her head. "Yes." She uses her hand to wipe her face of any remaining wetness from her tears. "But, there is something else that I need to tell you too."
"Alright. What is it, Ge?"
She takes in a breath, becoming nervous all of a sudden. "Well, Michael..not only did I find out that my cancer came back, but you're gonna have to take f-full custody of Ana..."
