"Yo, Mike!" Teddy smiles, removing himself from the keyboard. "Are you ready for today's session?"
He walks over to him and holds his hand out that Michael graciously shook, then giving each other a brotherly hug simultaneously. Michael was there on time as planned because of the demos he'd made. He wanted for Teddy listen to them and get the feel of where he's wanting his songs to travel to. The beat. The melodies. Some he beat boxed and sang acapella. The rest had their own respective beats made for them already. He actually made them, of course. But he wanted to enhance them.
And with the help of Teddy, he knew it could be done. Now, one thing Michael can say and be very happy about is the fact that Dawnette was here too. After her announcement to them yesterday, he wasn't expecting to see her at the studio at all. She was apparent that she was not going to work with him.
It was a done deal.
But deep down inside, Michael was floating on air right now. All he could think of is that she may have changed her mind about not working with him or, she's just there to assist Teddy. It could be any of those two options. He didn't want to get his hopes too high at the first one, so he just left it at that.
But how he wishes it could be true.
"Yeah, I am." Michael responds, breaking their hug. He takes a step back, giving himself and Teddy some space. "Being on time, the better, right?" Michael flashes his smiles.
Teddy nods his head agreeing, a smile going across his lips. "True."
"I have my..." he pauses briefly and waves a few stacks of CD cases, "demos with me. I wanted for you to listen to them and see where I was goin' with each song. That way we could take a few notes on each song."
"Oh, most definitely. Yea." He says, licking his lips. "But before we do, there's something that you and Dawnette, "he looks behind him to see Dawnette stacking her music sheets, but her head snaps up to them at the mention of her name, "needs to discuss." He was back to facing Michael now.
Teddy really wants Dawnette to work with Michael and today was her chance. When she came in this morning, she apologized for yesterday and told him that she did want to help Michael but let their personal problems, or... their past interfere with her work. That's why she was here today. To tell Michael she had a change of mind and was willing to push all that had happened behind them for the sake of them working professionally together on his album. But that was not all. She had more to say to him than he'd probably think. But in her own time today, she will.
Hopefully, her plan doesn't backfire on her.
"Oh." Michael raises both brows, astonished. "Okay..."
"So I'll just give you guys some privacy. I need to make a phone call anyway." Teddy tells them as he makes his way over to the door. He opens it and walks out, leaving just Michael and Dawnette alone in the quiet studio.
Michael became a bit more nervous now that Teddy was out of the room. He wasn't for sure if anything personal was going to be said between them. He hopes not, but he'll love to get into it being that there is a lot that needs to be said... on his part. Right now just wasn't the time and place for that. Eventually, they will sit down someplace and cross that bridge together.
"Hi, Michael." He hear Dawnette's soft voice speak to him.
He eyes that were already glued on her, watches her every move as she stands up from behind the keyboard. His eyes follow her as she began to make her way over to him. He could have sworn his eyes were going to bulge right out of his head while he checked her out from head to toe. Let's start off with her hair that was in its naturally curly state. He always loved it when she wore her hair curly, but he also loved it straight too like she wore it yesterday.
