lost in a frozen realm, i drift away into chill air,
staring at the stars that look down upon the winter snow.
i wonder if a star is warm, like the coals of a hearth
burning red in embers.
how i wish i was one of them, free from the confines of the earth,
free from this plane.
the ice at the peaks of the mountains glimmer in the moonlight,
radiating a false hope into my innocent heart.
light shows the way, but i've never been more lost.
it feels far, as if a thousand leaps would be no avail.
i fear the solid water, knowing the darkness below the ice is chilling.
it waits to swallow, and desires ambition.
nothing holds more power than where light is absent.
the frigid wind will always return, and blankets of clouds will steal away the radiance of the night sky.
i was born to be cold.
