A/N: finishing this story off before the lunar new year!
third person pov
the rain pelted down heavily from above.
the skies were dark and dull, the chilly air causing hyeji to rub her hands together for some warmth.
the weather had perfectly reflected the atmosphere in the building.
hyeji was standing at the extreme back of the large hall with a high ceiling.
dressed in monochrome clothes and a dark coloured cap that was hiked low on her head, she watched the ceremony commence.
people were coming up one by one onto the stage, and she recognised most of them to be from the various prestigious full blooded families.
they started talking about how great and filial the person in the photograph before the coffin was.
she glances at the man standing next to her, wearing similar clothes that didn't make them stand out, and hid their faces.
"you aren't going to go closer?" she whispered to him, who had his hands clasped together.
"...no, this is enough. johnny would appreciate it." he chuckles lowly, and she returns her attention to the ceremony.
the reason why the two of them weren't showing themselves was due to the fact that they were from the house of lee. the most powerful full blood family. they don't just turn up to any event anytime and anywhere.
at least, that was the extent of what grandfather allowed and said to taeyong.
"you may attend, but make yourself scarce."
and he obviously adhered to it.
and although hyeji had cut all ties from the family years ago, she was still considered as a powerful user.
in case you were wondering what happened to taeyong everything had ended, he was actually released from the interrogation room, but on probatory period right now. he would be taken back in after things in blackjack has settled.
and if you didn't already know, they were currently in the middle of a funeral procession.
his full blood family had received news of his passing and held this procession for him.
hyeji lowers her head, closing her eyes with johnny in mind and thanked him for saving her life for his.
she felt thankful, she really did, but she also couldn't help but feel a little guilty.
if she had been more quick...
"...let's go." taeyong breaks her trail of thought, his eyes trailing on hers.
his pupils widened in surprise. "hyeji?"
she blinks, a single tear slipping down her cheeks.
"wh-what? you wanted to go? fine."
she sniffs, quickly bringing both her hands up to wipe her tears away.
she was never one to let her weakness show so easily, and taeyong knew that.
his eyes fall to the ground. he knows why she's acting like that.
"hey, you think johnny would appreciate seeing your tears?"
to his utter surprise, she slowly breaks into a small grin.
"no...but i just, remembered what he told me. he said he did it as an apology..." her eyes were on his framed picture.
