Owen was furious.

I could practically see the steam escaping his ears as he helped me into a jeep and drove like a mad man to the control centre.

During the turbulent ride, I had re-positioned my hearing aid back into my ear so that I could listen to Owen as he ranted on about how stupid this park could be. That we were both naive enough to think nothing would ever happen in our lifetime as we worked on the island. How the calmness and tranquillity we had over the nearly ten years we had lived here we believed would last just a little longer; until we were too old to live here and Daniel would have to drag us off the island kicking and screaming.

"Stay in the car!" Owen says sternly. His eyebrows raised in seriousness as he kisses my sticky forehead from perspiration before jumping out of the jeep.

I don't even think before I'm opening the door and my boots are connecting with the smooth tarmac as I jog after Owen and his large strides.

"Owen, wait!" I cry as I dive into the large building behind him. Once he hears my voice he's instantly spinning on his heels to gape at me. His eyes widening in shock and his jaw almost hitting the floor as he gives me a double take of disbelief.

"Zoe!" He quickly pulls my small body into his chest as he rubs a hand over his stressed face, "God damn it, I thought I told you to stay in the car?"

I wrap my arms tightly around him and I tuck my head into the crook of his neck as I mumble shyly into his warm skin, "I'm going with you, to stop you being too mean,"

The small chuckle that emits from his throat makes the small bubble of nerves that had accumulated in my stomach disappear.

"I'll just give them unicorns and rainbows then instead should I, Princess? We could have died, people have died, and you don't want me to get angry?"

"I'm angry too! Imagine if Daniel was here? But it's not specifically those in that IT rooms fault." I look up at him and resist the urge to look at my feet. I know that Vivian is working today and I don't want my cousin being dragged into this mess any more that what she needs to be. She's probably witnessed so much already through the CCTV cameras placed strategically throughout the park.

"No it's not, but she's out there and this could have been prevented if they had used their heads and not just gone and created a hybrid dinosaur for a bit of extra cash," Owen mumbles as he pulls away and takes my hand, leading us into the lift that will take us up to the main control room, "They were blinded by money and greedy for more. Now look where it's landed them, right back where we were twenty-two years ago. I'm not gonna stand by and let more people die because I stood back and did nothing,"

I squeeze his hand tightly as the lift doors finally open before I let go and Owen strides into the crowded control room, straight past the security guard asking for a badge.

"What the hell happened out there?" Owen demands as he storms ahead of me. The security guard now turning his attention to myself as I attempted to walk past him. His large frame being planted in-front of me had me stopping instantly and cowering back a few steps. I resisted the urge to close my eyes and bring my hands up weakly in front of my face just in case I needed to defend myself; a horrible instinct from my childhood.

"Ma'am,"

"Hey, she's with me," Owen spits as he moves past the gentleman and grabs my hand to pull me past the security guards stunned face. The warmth of his hand and presence beside me dissipated those horrible feelings almost immediately; even when he begins shouting at the managers of the control room, "There are thermal cameras all over that paddock. She did not just disappear!"
