I looked back and saw Snowstorm heading the opposite way. I'm sure I'll manage without him. I mean I'll miss him, but surely I'll make new friends, right. I found the door that said flight strategies and headed inside. All eyes turned on me. I saw a few kids look at my wings, I knew they were looking at the many lightning patterns that covered them. The teacher whistled to capture everyone's attention and gestured for me to sit down. I saw a few kids look at me with a smile on their faces. I wasn't sure whether I should trust them or not, but really the only empty desk was there. So I sat down and placed my bag beside me. As soon as I sat down "Good morning everyone, my name is Dark-sky and I will be your teacher for flight strategies. So if everyone will quiet down we can do attendance." I listened to Dark-sky list off the names and found that the three others around me were named Hail, Sleet, and Bolt. Those names sound kind of mean and hard but I don't get to choose. Eventually she got to the end of the list and asked my name. Great, this would probably happen, but great. Now everyone knows my name. They'll probably call me lighty or something like that. I just raise my paw to show that I'm there. Everyone looks around for my raised paw and once they found it, they lock eye contact and smirk. Now I'm kind of worried. Dark-sky whistles for everyone's attention and says, "shall we get on with class." Everyone rolls their eyes but my tail is moving with excitement. I can't wait to learn how to fly better. Dark-sky stands up and tells us to follow into a large spacious aviary thingie. I step inside with awe and wonder with plants, tress, rocks, sand dunes, and ice all in separate areas. It's beautiful, there are so many colours. I give my attention to the rainforest type area and even notice a few birds. I'm amazed by their colour. "Today we'll only be taking a short aerial tour through the areas just to show you what they look like, so no crazy stunts please." My eyes start to sadden with a few droplets but everyone else starts to take off to the air so I take off as well. My wings are loving the open air which is soon disrupted by a few tail smacks from dragons above. I grunt in disbelief of their carelessness to my personal being. I know they don't care but still, a little respect would be nice. We fly over to the Desert section and are instantly blasted with heat. I can feel a faint breeze with sand trickle over my scales as we fly closer to the sand. We land while stirring up sand into the air making us sneeze. I notice that some dunes are bigger than others. Makes sense. This area is much bigger than the classroom and I notice a small dragonet I've never seen before. I walk over to her and ask, "what's your name?" "Flash." She mumbles. "That's a neat name Flash, I'm Lightning." "I know, everyone knows. You're probably the most popular dragonet in the school." "Me popular, no way." "Yes way. The only reason is because of your amazing wing pattern." I see her unfold her wings and I see a single lightning strike. "It's okay Flash, but why are you named Flash?"
"Not many people know this, but when I hatched my stripe lit up so bright I almost blinded my parents, and myself." "Woah that's so cool." I notice that everyone is taking off again so I ask, "would you like to fly with me?" "Sure why not." She answers. I flap up into the air with Flash close behind. Turns out she's really talkative once you get her going. We fly through all of the areas, the rainforest is still my favourite, and the tundra area is freezing cold. I wonder how they keep everything from mixing together. It's unreal of how the birds don't fly into the mountain zone. That's a question for later. We fly back into the classroom, grab our bags, and head towards our next class. Target practice. Yay, I'm probably going to become the target. The teacher in here is a beautiful mix of aquatic colours. "Hello class I'm Typhoon and I'll be your teacher for this class," she said, "here you will be learning how to shoot your lightning properly." We can all see the lightning building up in her throat. And just like that she shot a blast right above our heads down hit a target right in the middle. We all clapped in amazement. Come on, let's go to the target room so you can start practicing. We all followed behind as Typhoon led us to the next room. "So who would like to go first." I saw a few hands go up. "Very eager, but I have a few in mind. Lightning and Flash please come forwards." Now I'm worried. "Me, us." I stammer. "Yes you two, come on." I look over at Flash and see the worried expression on her face. We step forwards to the shooting line. We ready our breath and try to aim at the targets. Typhoon says, "shoot," right before we release the charge in the back of our throats. There's always a slight recoil after a blast, but during that period we hear all the others gasp in shock. When we can see again both targets have a hole right through the middle. "Impressive work Lightning and Flash. Would anyone else like to try." Typhoon smiles. No one raises their hand. Typhoon calls a few other dragons up at a time. No one else can beat us, obviously because we hit bullseye, but the one dragonet named Crackle got close. After what felt like hours the bell rings for lunch. We all race inside and grab our bags. "Hey Flash, want to hang out with my friend Snowstorm." I call to Flash. "Sure, what better do I have to do." She replies. We walk out and follow the crowd of fellow students who know where to go. Eventually we walk out into an open courtyard where everyone is. I look around to find Snowstorms hidden secret that no one else knows. The faint white scales underneath his eyes and at the tip of his snout. Eventually I find it and walk over to him with Flash following close behind. When we get closer I see four other dragonets standing with him. I recognize one of them as my cousin Thunder. I wave as Snowstorm looks over.
