I'm trying to push myself to upload and write more, so here's another chapter for y'all.

Scott barely gets himself out of bed that morning, the only thing pushing him being the fact this is the last school day until a four day weekend. A four day weekend has never sounded so appealing. He gets dressed in the same pair of skinny jeans he's been wearing all week and a plain white t-shirt. Scott throws his letterman jacket on before exiting the house and heading towards school.

He's washed the jacket easily six times since Tuesday. Scott can't bear the thought of Kirstie, let alone wearing a jacket that smelled so much like her. Now it only smells of laundry detergent and sadness.

Scott gets a phone call from Mitch halfway to school. He answers and puts it on speaker so he isn't a danger to himself or to other drivers. "Hey, Mitch. What's up?"

Ever since Scott found Kirstie cheating on him over a week ago, he had only grown closer to Mitch. It seemed like Mitch didn't want anything to do with her anymore. Which was very awkward since they still lived under the same roof. Never the less, Scott found it sweet that Mitch was on his side. At least someone deserves his trust.

"Hey, I know you're probably on the road already, but could you come over to pick me up? I really don't want to be a bother, but-"

Scott turns his blinker on, making a U-turn as quickly and safely as possible. "Say no more. I'm on my way. I'll be there in eight minutes, Mitch."

"Oh, sei un vero salvatore!" Mitch exclaims something in Italian and Scott just smiles in response. He's really going to need to learn some Italian eventually. Scott and Mitch decide to end the call after that since Mitch doesn't want to be the reason Scott gets in an accident.

It's the last day of school before the new quarter. That's the only thing on Scott's mind today. Maybe he'll go to a party tonight, forget about Kirstie for a few hours. Or maybe Scott will just go home and eat a tub of ice cream all by himself. Both sound pretty damn appealing. Hopefully, Avi or Mitch will be free. All Scott really needs are good friends.

Scott pulls up to the Maldonado residence, heart clenching at the idea of seeing Kirstie. He's managed to avoid her so far. Even when she knows that she's been looking for him. The blonde's strategy is to never stop moving. Scott never lets himself sit down before, between, or after class. He's always moving because then, even if Kirstie does catch him, he can brush her off and say he's busy.

Kirstie's car is already gone. Scott is filled with more anger than relief at the sight. She had just left Mitch at home to deal with getting a ride. How in the world was that fair? The answer was that it wasn't fair. Everything Kirstie did was just for her. And Scott didn't know how he hadn't seen it before now.

Scott pulls his phone out.

Scott: Mitchie! I'm here.

It's the first time Scott has used a nickname for the small brunette, but it feels good once it's been said. There's no going back now. Scott gets a reply in seconds.

Mitch: Be out in a second, Scottie ;)

Scott stares down at his phone for a few seconds before smiling. There might even be a light blush on his cheeks. Of course, Scott isn't sure why. It isn't like Mitch is unattractive, but Scott has barely been single more than a week. He needs to take some healing time and do something stupid before getting into anything real again.

Sometimes he thinks about breaking something, anything really. Scott needs something to change and he isn't sure what that will be yet. Hopefully, he'll be able to find it over the long weekend. When Mitch exits the house, looking as flawless as always in an oversized sweater and black jeans, Scott puts his phone away.

"Hey, amico." Mitch flashes a cute smile his way. "Thank you for picking me up. I don't know what I would do without you."

Scott smiles and puts the car in reverse. "Well, I guess it's good that you'll never have to find out then."

---

"I'll drive you home today, Mitch. We can grab something to eat first or do something if you want, but I'll make sure you get home."

"Thank you, Scottie," Mitch speaks softly. There's something about the nickname mixed with the strong accent that does something for Scott.

He smiles. "Of course, Mitchie." It's the second time Scott has used the nickname and the first time he's said it out loud. It feels good rolling off his tongue. Saying it in person gives Scott an idea as to how flustered Mitch normally gets.

Mitch clears his throat and Scott can see a light dusting of pink on his cheeks. "I need to go to class, but I'll see you later."

"I'll be looking forward to it."

Scott and Mitch go their separate ways with Scott ending up in class with Avi. They talk about unimportant things until class starts and that's the way Scott needs it to be. They haven't spoken of the breakup in two days. Scott just needs some time to heal. He hopes the healing process won't take long, but at the same time thinking of Kirstie makes his blood boil.

Avi nudges Scott's leg with his own. "Scott, the bell just rang. It's time for second block. Are you okay?"

Scott nods quickly. "Yeah... Yes, I'm fine. Let's hurry to class so we aren't counted late."
