Sunrise

They run through the forest in the intimacy of the fading sunrise
Letting the branches whip their smiles
Falling down

In the freshly fallen snow,
They can not keep from falling

In the ramifications of the sun rays,
In the dancing shadows of trees glazed with ice
In the promise of a new life,

They can do nothing to fight against
Falling in love

Kuwana has never been so happy
And never felt so beautiful.

They pause at a break—
a frozen lake
—reflecting the world in brilliant crystalline purity.

In an embrace
The top of her head perfectly fits
The bottom of his square jaw
Golden hair,
Deep blue eyes,
Pale skin,
An inquisitive expression
Promising a lifetime of compassion

All of their words
Their thoughts
Aligning like lines in a code
The cold cannot breach
The warmth that flows from their hearts
And between their fingertips

(And between their lips)

Kuwana knows
He is the answer to her wish,
Because if he takes her hand,
He will have already taken her heart
And she can bear to leave home
With the guarantee that he will love her forever

"Kuwana... you are alive Kuwana." He whispers.
