ROBYN'S POV

I let my no. 2 pencil escape from my tight grip as it rolled off the tip of my fingers. As I stared at the never ending words that were splattered on the piece of notebook paper, my mind was occupied with my constant thoughts that were trying to make its way out of my brain.

10:45pm

Is what I read on my clock as I felt my eyes droop three quarters of the way down seeing just a blur. The darkness of my room made it harder for my eyes to stay awake. I lifted myself with my two palms in a push-up position and twisted my body to the right, so my ass would sink into my bed and my back pressed up against the violet colored wall. I closed my eyes and breathe in through my nose and exhaled from my mouth unaware of how tense my body was.

The vibration of my phone startled me as I shifted my body to the left and with my right hand I reached for my phone. ' ASShole ' appeared on my screen as I squinted my eyes to check the time again. Of course he would be calling me at this time of night, I pressed accept and gracefully put the phone to my ear.

"Rueben?" I question unsure if he meant to call me.

"Robyn?"

"Did you need something, it's like 10:47 at night," I say pausing to check the time again.

"Damn, I can't at least get my hey? You haven't even tried to hit me up girl. I missed you....well just a little bit. How you been my Red Robyn," Rueben chuckled just enough so he seemed chill, his voice deep and delicate like it always was. The words floated through my ear gradually as they came out of his mouth.

Red Robyn.

It's surprising how two words could make you weak and vulnerable.

I felt the corner of my mouth break from its mellow structure and move in a upper ward motion revealing my teeth. Embarrassed of my excitement, I bite the corner of my lip. My thoughts were developing rapidly in my mind, and something inside my body was becoming heavy making it harder to breathe. It was as if something pinched the bottom corner of my heart because a flow of anxiety coursed through my body.

I shut my eyes and tried to respond in the calmest way I knew how, but what am I going to say? I'm taking too long to answer to a simple question.

Breathe Robyn, it's just a boy, but he's not any kind of boy! He's-

"Robyn? So, are we doing the silent treatment now because if that's the case, we both know who's going to win," Questions Rueben interrupting my thoughts.

"I- I uhh, wasn't." I stutter anxiously, saying the first thing that came to my head hoping it makes sense.

Shit Robyn, I said stay calm, and what did you do? Stutter. EXACTLY.

A chuckle arose from his throat, "Are you always this nervous when you talk to me," he paused deciding what he should say knowing I wouldn't respond to that question. We both knew the answer.

"Because if so, I want to hear you all the time Red" I can picture his smile through the phone enjoying the effect he has on me.

"I am not your personal entertainment Rueben," I state more relaxed now that I had time to composed myself.

I could feel his smile fade away as I heard him try clear his throat, "uh, Robyn...?" He paused again. I remain silent until he spoke. My heart raced faster as the silence grew louder.

"I called you because i was wondering if," he blew his breath.

"I was wondering , Can you uhhh, can you come over my house? I have to tell you something." He says reinstating as if he regained some of his confidence.

I laugh into the phone quietly at first, but eventually it started to over power me.

"Are you really going to ask me to come over your house? through the phone even though you live right across the street from me? That's fantastic Rue, " my words broken because of the constant giggling.

Since when in the hell did your ass become bold?

There was this heavy silence, "alright then" is all he says and then I hear the phone click. I sat there the phone still laying close to my ear.

I know this nigga didn't just hang up on me. Shit. What did I say wrong? My stomach drops or is it my heart? Matter of fact, who cares he's just a boy. By the way, you shouldn't hang up on people without telling them something. Why in the hell would he leave me clueless? Is he mad at me because of what I said? What if he really had to tell me something , like his mother died? Okay maybe I shouldn't have done that. I could of asked instead of being blunt, IDIOT!

I sling my phone on the ground in frustration hearing the thud as it landed. I pull my legs closer to my chest while my head is tilted back against the wall wrapping my arms tightly around my legs. With my eyes closed, I sigh heavily in my knees. Right beside me, I hear a strong object bang against my window, but not heavy enough to shatter the glass into pieces. My entire body jerks and my eyes bulge open to the sound of the object sending my head into the wall behind me with heavy force.

shit.

My hands gently rub against the soar forming on the back of my head as I gradually turn my attention to my right. Another bang collided with my window followed by another until I shifted my body off the bed to separate my curtains seeing a figure standing outside.

Rueben.
