I looked at the ring on the palm of my hand. The only reason I had kept it in my bag after I took it off on day two in the forest, was in case I needed it to trade it in for something. I knew I should have left it back at home, but there are a lot of greedy people who would do anything for a diamond and at the time, I didn't know what would happen. I don't need it anymore so I got up and flushed it down the toilet.
My stomach growled, so I decided I would make myself something since I still didn't know my way around the house and no one was around. I had just finished making myself a sandwich from the supplies in the mini fridge when a thought hit me. Other than Megan, I haven't met anyone else.
More importantly, where was everyone else? In my old pack, the pack house was always loud and filled with people walking in and out of the place. The only time I recalled seeing people was a few hours ago when they were looking for me and even then, I made no conversation with anyone. No one even looked at me. With that thought in mind, I made my way down the long, spiral staircase.
I came across a hallway that was split in two directions. I chose the right side. The hallway seemed endless, how huge was this mansion? I stopped as I heard footsteps approaching. Time to make new friends, I thought. Two figures came into view, both of them were young guys, probably a year or two older than me. One had blonde hair and blue eyes and the other one had brown hair and brown eyes. The blonde one whistled when he saw me and the other one smirked.
"Well, well, well, doll. I haven't seen you around before," the blonde one spoke.
"I uhh... I'm new to this pack," I stuttered.
"My name's Tom and this is Max," the brown haired guy spoke up as he nodded in Max's direction.
"Oh, nice to meet you. My name's Chloe," I said with a smile.
"Chloe, a beautiful name for a beautiful girl," Tom said.
"Thanks? I should get going now. Nice meeting you," I said as I turned to walk away. I felt a hand grab my wrist and spin me around to see that it was Tom.
"Slow down there, doll. We haven't even talked about our... interests yet," he said with an evil glint in his eyes and a smirk.
"And you won't be able to talk at all if you don't take you fucking ands off of her!" I heard a deep and angry voice boom through the hallway as the thudding of heavy footsteps came closer. In a blink of an eye, there is no longer a grip on my wrist and Tom is lying unconsciously on the floor whilst Max has a horrified look on his face. I turned to see Daniel fuming as he sent Max a deadly glare. All I saw was a blur and then I heard a loud thud as Daniel pinned Max on the wall only by his neck.
"I'm s-sorry Alpha," Max choked out, desperately gasping for air.
"Damn right you are. If I catch so much as looking at her, the last thing you'll see is your own blood pooling around you, understood?" Daniel asked in a dangerously calm voice.
"Y-yes Alpha," Max breathed out.
"You're lucky you're one of my best fighters," Daniel muttered as he let Max drop to the ground. I just stood there, transfixed at what just happened and how fast it happened, I didn't even blink. Max grabbed his neck as he gasped in air. I ran to his side to make sure he was okay when I finally snapped out of it. I wasn't even a foot from my spot when Daniel grasped my wrist and pulled me towards his chest in a tight embrace.
"Mine," he growled out. With that, he pulled me by my arm and led me back to the room. So much for making friends.
When we got there, Daniel pinched the bridge of his nose and breathed in heavy breaths until they were back to normal.
