"What are you doing, babe?" I didn't have to turn my head to see who's voice that belonged to.
"Just thinking of how fast time has gone by. A month since I left everything behind yet I feel like I didn't lose as much as I gained..." My eyes furrowed in thought and I turned to see that Nathaniel didn't have his goofy expression, but instead, one of seriousness.
"Do you refer to Daniel?" He asked. A small smile played on my lips at the mention of his name.
"Yes, but I also mean all the people I've met here. Including you, of course. Being Luna of the strongest and most feared pack is still so... surreal, so unbelievable. Who would have that that someone like me would be destined to be in the place I am in, now?" Nathaniel held a small smile and sat next to me on the bright, green grass.
"Well, as tiny as you seem, Chloe, you're pretty strong and clever. From what I've heard, you test Daniel a lot. Instead of staying quiet and going along with whatever he says like any mate would in your case, you confront him and talk back to him. Heck, you even cursed at him," Nathaniel said and we both laughed.
"Yeah, I guess," I said with a sigh.
"Go get a glass of water for me," Nathaniel ordered after a moment of silence.
"Excuse me?"
"One of the two conditions that were put on the table was that you'd be my personal assistant for a whole week," he replied with a smirk. "Or did you forget?"
"Aw man. Nathaniel, " I whined. "Can we forget all about it please?"
"Now, now, Chloe. You must keep your word, don't you?"
"Yes," I mumbled and reluctantly got up to go all the way to the kitchen for a glass of water.
I was filling up the glass when I smelled that heavenly scent. Two arms snaked around my waist from behind and his nose trailed up and down my neck. He kissed his mark and sparks shot through my whole body. The water spilling from overflow in the glass snapped me back from my trance.
"Oh shoot," I said as I removed the glass from the water. I placed the glass on the counter top and turned to steal a kiss from Daniel. He smiled and teased my lips with his.
"Well aren't you going to drink that?" He mumbled with his lips against mine.
"It's not for me. I'm Nathaniel's assistant for a whole week," I said with a glare directed to the innocent glass of water.
"Why?"
"Long story."
"Chloe," he sighed while pinching the bridge of his nose with two fingers. "You're the Luna. If anything, it's you who gets to order him around." I wanted to smack myself. That information slipped my mind at that tiny moment.
"I'll be back," I said as I grabbed the glass and made my way towards the garden.
"What took so long, babe?" Nathaniel question and then eyed the glass. "No ice?" I splashed the water on his hair with a satisfied smirk. "You're paying for that," he growled, but I saw a spark of playfulness in his eyes.
"Daniel!" I cried as I ran inside to see Daniel in his same spot. I ran to hide behind him as Nathaniel appeared at the doorway.
"Give her to me and no one gets hurt, brother," Nathaniel said with playful seriousness and Daniel played along.
"Over my dead body," Daniel replied.
"As you wish," Nathaniel said before lunging at Daniel. Both of them tumbled outside.
