A/N - Yo.
So I decided that this would be a continuation of ch. 3 - Being Sleepy, which, as you might remember, has Todoroki passing out at the end.
This is after that, except from Midoriya's perspective!
---
How he could have let this happen?
He knew watching the show that night had been a bad idea, but he just... he just needed to finish the season. He knew Shouto would stay awake with him no matter what, and he should've known better than to let him go more than 3 nights without even an hour of sleep.
And now he'd over exerted himself.
And he was in the hospital.
All because of Izuku.
The green-haired man was sitting in the uncomfortable plastic chair in the stark white room, leaning over his unconscious boyfriend. Tears streamed down his face as his brain filled with thoughts of how this whole mess was his fault.
He was exhausted, and it showed. Dark bags circled underneath his normally vibrant green eyes, and his limbs were practically dragging on the floor. Still, he couldn't bring himself to sleep.
He needed to be awake for when Shouto woke up.
He needed to apologize, to state how this whole mess was his fault, and ask, no beg, for Shouto's forgiveness.
His thoughts were so loud, he didn't even realize another person had entered the room until a pair of strong arms wrapped around him in a gentle hug.
He turned his head to see Momo, looking almost as upset as Izuku felt.
Behind her stood Ochako and Tenya, looking at Shouto in shock.
Nothing like this was ever supposed to happen.
But it was inevitable.
And so they all immediately knew when they got the call that Izuku was going to be a mess.
Yes, they were there for Todoroki, but they were also there for their now-sobbing ray of sunshine.
Being a pro-hero was difficult for all of them.
Being number one was near impossible.
Momo shifted her grip to his hands, and stood, being considerate for her still-crying friend.
"Izuku. You need to change. You've been wearing the same clothes since it's happened. You haven't even left his side. It's been two days. He's scheduled to wake up tomorrow. You can leave his side for a couple of hours." She spoke, letting reality befall the man once again.
He didn't want reality.
He wanted Shouto.
He was opening his mouth to refuse her kind gesture, when Ochako stepped forward. She had her 'I won't take no for an answer face' on.
"Izuku. You're not going to say no to this, are you? I understand you don't want to leave his bed side. How do you think I felt when I was in your position, and you were the one unconscious in the bed? It's terrifying, and all you want to do is just stay, and wait until they wake up. But you can't. Shouto doesn't want to wake up and see your crying, dirty, and sleep deprived face leaning over him. He's going to panic, and think he did something horribly wrong. He's going to blame himself. The media's already going wild over why he passed out, you don't want him to strain himself right after he wakes up, right? You want him to see you at your best. He wants you ready to combat the media with him, not to sit there and cry while he deals with everything himself. So you need to get your ass up, and go take care of yourself. Get at least three hours of sleep, shower, and change your clothes. Now."
And with that, she walked out of the room, presumably just for dramatic affect. Neither Tenya nor Ochako were going to leave just yet.
"Fine. I'll go take care of myself. Can I just... have a moment alone with him, please?" Izuku requested, looking back down at the pale face of his boyfriend.
"Yeah, sure. We'll be right outside if you need anything." Momo responded, leaving the room and sliding the door shut behind her.
"Hey Sho. I'm so sorry. You'd be so mad if you knew what I was doing right now. You're always on my ass about me taking care of myself. You're so much like my mom it's scary." He chuckled sadly, letting several moments of silence pass over the two, only the steady beeping of the heart monitor.
"I love you. I hope you know that." He stated, before leaning down to give his boyfriend a gentle kiss on the forehead, then standing.
His last thought before he exited the hospital room was one of desperation, one of revenge. One of anger.
None of this was supposed to happen. And Midoriya was going to make sure things were right by the time Shouto woke up.
A/N - My first combined story! What did you guys think? I hope it wasn't super confusing, or overly drawn out. I tend to do that sometimes.
I hope you guys are still enjoying these! The next one is Morning Routine, so look forward to that!
