Marsha looked the least bit happy about being here, I could tell. I could see through that faux little smile she had forced on her face. I could see almost a twinge of pain in her eyes. What was she doing here?
"Ariana, I was wondering," she began, letting out a long sigh of what sounded to me to be despair. "I was wondering if you would maybe want to come to my party, tomorrow night. It's this big end of the year party I'm having, thought in sure you've already heard of it."
My jaw was still dropped, I had heard everything she said, my brain just chose not to believe it. I almost choked on my words.
"Sorry, what?" I choked out in disbelief.
She narrowed her eyes slightly at me, shooting a cold glare.
"You heard me, loser. Don't make me repeat myself. My mom said I have to invite everyone in our grade to my party. So, are you going or not?"
She whipped out an invitation out of her Gucci handbag.
It was in a small, white envelope. It even had my name on it, 'Ariana Calloway' I slowly reached out for the envelope; was this some kind of sick joke? I snatched the invitation and gazed upon it for a few moments. As soon as I looked up, I already saw Marsha getting back into her silver Porsche. When I walked back inside, I noticed my sister standing there.
"Who was that? What was that about? What happened?" She bothered me with many questions.
"I don't have time for twenty questions, Jacqueline. Go away." I snapped at her.
I watched as she slowly turned and walked away, sulking. I ran up to my run and jumped on my bed. Practically ripping the envelope open, I pulled out the contents. It was a small, blue envelope. Chevron print. I opened up the card, it's said the place, time, and date. Upon reading the card, I snatched my phone and began texting Joanie.
"You'll never believe what just happened.. Marsha came to MY house and just invited me to her party this Saturday." I typed to her.
A couple minutes later, Joanie sent back:
"Are you serious??!! While I'm stuck here in Wisconsin you're getting to go to a party??!! And how did she know where you live?"
"No clue, but I'm not sure if I should go." I replied.
"you should totally go! Josh will probably be there too." She stated.
"Yeah, I suppose. Gotta go, bye." I typed quickly.
My hands were shaking in a flurry of disbelief, shock, and a bit of excitement. I fell back on my bed and lay staring at the ceiling. I then pulled the invitation in front of my face and looked at it. "Did this seriously just happen? I mean, seriously, how does she even know where I live?" I questioned myself. After a while of thinking about my life, I slowly found myself drifting to sleep. After all, I was to have a very big day tomorrow.
