FIREHEART
"I was framed."
┗ ━━┅━━━┅━━ ┛
━━━━━━ ◦ ❖ ◦ ━━━━━━LET'S GET THIS STRAIGHT: Ares Ortega did not murder that guy. But, according to the Ark's Council, a poorly-mannered sixteen-year-old boy waking up in a pool of blood beside a dead body with a knife in his hand is enough proof of guilt to incarcerate him. And blaming the asshole kid with mommy issues is easier than believing a word out of his mouth.
So now he's rotting in a cell, waiting to be released into space on his eighteenth birthday for a crime he didn't commit. Or, at least, that's how it's supposed to go.
What Ares doesn't know is that the Ark's oxygen supply is failing. Because of that, a hundred prisoners are going to be sent to the ground to see if it's inhabitable, including him. It's practically an earlier death sentence if they don't make it to the ground or die instantly from the toxic environment. And if they do, that's fine, because a bunch of criminals are seen as expendable, anyway.
Earth has more problems than radiation poisoning, though, and Ares figures that out the hard way when a skinny boy with goggles is speared through the chest on their second day on the planet that was their ancestors' home.
