Flex watched as Owethu changed into her sleepwear, lingerie sleepwear. They had a tradition whereby once a month they had a sleepover at each other's homes and tonight was his turn to play host.' you look good'
He pulled her into himself, wrapping his arms around her waist. As she placed hers around his neck. They always behaved like this, always under each other and behaving like a couple in love but only Flex was inlove. Owethu just dismissed it as him being playful since every girl he had dated had the waist of a wasp.
' what's so funny?'
He asked noticing her trying to hide the smile on her face by burying her it into his chest.
'just thinking about Wendy,remember her.'
He felt a bit disappointed he had hoped she was smiling about them, how perfect they looked right now in each other's arm. He grabbed her right hand in an attempt to make her follow him downstairs into the living area.
' what the hell is this?'
Owethu quickly grabbed her hand away, she had forgotten to remove the engagement ring Thabo had given her. She was still yet to tell Flex or her little sister about the engagement. He pulled her hand back and held it tighter as he inspected the ring on it.
' Flex you're squeezing my hand.'
'where did you get this?'
He let go of her hand but kept his grip on her wrist. He waited for her to explain. He noticed her hesitation and applied pressure on her wrist.
' Fine. Thabo gave it to me. He proposed to-'
'and you accepted!'
He grabbed her hand and pulled out the ring and threw it out the bedroom balcony door. She screamed at him, pushed him away and ran in the direction her ring flew.
' Flex what is your problem.'
Grabbing her by her wrist again he pulled her back into his bedroom.
' what is my problem?! What is your problem. How can you accept his proposal after what he did to you. After what he put you through, what is wrong with you. Are you waiting for him to kill you for you to finally see that he is no good for you.'
'if he is not good for me Flex then who is,huh! Who is. If you have forgotten dear friend I am a fat middle aged woman and not many men are not knocking my door down to date me.'
Owethu cried onto his chest, part of her new that Thabo not the type of guy she should be planning a future with but she figured better the devil she knew. He held her in his arms rubbing her back as she cried herself to sleep on his chest. He gently pushed her off her chest and headed downstairs to put the food away and switch off the television. He went back upstairs, stripped naked getting into bed with her.
' I want to love you Owethu. I am just waiting for you to realize it,that I am good for you but I cannot wait forever.'
