Fear

She slumped to the floor and closed her eyes
Knowing she'd never fall asleep

For when Fear closed her eyes all she saw
Were the nightmares that haunted her dreams

The rings under her eyes weren't fading
They got deeper every day

She spent sleepless nights looking up at the ceiling
Praying that the sun would rise as in her bed she lay

Fear was barely holding on
So to the handle of a knife she'd grasp

Slowly slicing away at skin
And hiding behind her mask

She put on a smile so that no one knew
Just how hard she was fighting

To try and live a half normal life
Instead of being frightened

Then she met him,
and just for a little while

Her pain seemed to cease
And she even managed to smile

For years she hadn't felt that feeling
of pure ecstasy

She could close her eyes and dream all night
Instead of seeing the haunting memories

Now everyday wasn't a struggle
To just get by

Fear was actually living
And for once she didn't want to die

He'd made her life so much better
She'd never again feel that pain

She realized she loved him
But she didn't even know his name

She asked him while they were walking
In a beautiful summer scene

"The name's Delusion" he smirked at her
And everything crumbled at her feet

She looked around her, panic stricken
As tears fell from her eyes

Then her one spec of hope had faded
Had all of this been a lie?

Delusion was no longer standing next to her
And what happened to the summer breeze?

She was standing alone in the dark once again
Shards of glass cracking under her feet

The truth was that Fear used to be a normal girl

She did normal things and lived in a normal world

Then one day she looked into his eyes

And found that she'd fallen for his stupid pickup lines

They thought they'd spend their lives together, even get married

But the night they confessed their love for each other
She found him there, hanging

Ever since then she couldn't bare to close her eyes

Because all she could see was her beloved suspended in the sky

She guessed that she couldn't cope anymore and the only way to survive

Was to imagine that she found a love
To live, she told herself lies
