The heat of August was cooling off as we grew nearer to September, but it was still quite humid walking down the busy streets of Diagon Alley.

Draco and I walked unaccompanied this year, Lucius and Narcissa far too busy anymore to come with us. Draco and I looked over our lists that arrived not too long ago along with two shiny prefect badges and decided to split up to save time. We didn't want to be here any longer than we had to. I got stationed to the book shop that was buzzing with Hogwarts students looking for their books.

I began to browse around for the books checking them off my list as I grabbed two of each. Some of the books seemed a little off than usual and I wasn't the only one who seemed to notice because as I drew near the dark arts shelves I heard an all to familiar voice whining about the selection.

"Defense theories? Who is this new professor anyways?" Granger was going off in her usual annoying tone of voice, most likely to Potter and Weasley. I could of went the whole summer before being reminded that these three goons exist.

"We're going to have to learn a lot more than theories since," her voice got really low and barely audible as she said the next part, "you-know-who is back."

"Well, lookie here." I busted around the corner, not wanting to hear any more about what they have to say about my father. "I mean, honestly, I can smell you from outside, don't you have a bath in that shack the twenty of your family members reside in, Weasley?"

"Let's leave." Potter spat in my direction.

"So soon, Potter?" Draco appeared behind me handing me the robes he picked up from Madam Malkin's.

"Thanks, Draco. Got to have fresh looking robes if we're going to be prefects this year." I smirked.

"Ron and Hermione are prefects, too!" Harry practically shouted.

"Wow, and not you Potter?" Draco laughed. "Must be a big blow to you, finally not getting to be the most important person in the room."

"C'mon guys..." Granger tugged on Potters sleeve, trying to get him to back away from Draco.

"Can't wait to see you next week!" I smile and wave at them as they walked away and out of the store.

"Why can't you keep yourself out of trouble for once, Madison." Draco rolled his eyes at me once the trio has left.

"Maybe they should keep their mouths shut, they were talking about my father, Draco. I couldn't just let them." I said in my defense while swapping supplies with Draco.

"And you would be wise to not talk about him either. We can't have people hearing you talk about him."

"Don't parent me, Draco." I snapped at him.

"Then stop acting like an idiot." I stopped him in between some shelves of books.'

"Excuse me?" I glared at him.

"You're acting like a child, Madi. You can't go drawing attention to yourself anymore, neither of us can. Do you have any idea what would happen to us if they knew what was going on in our drawing room? We wouldn't see the light of day again and those three have been accusing us of shit we haven't done since we were eleven and now they can really get us in trouble if they have any evidence that we know anything about him. Okay?"

I didn't say anything back. Draco sighed before saying, "I'm just looking out for us."

"Yeah, I know. I'm sorry." He wasn't wrong about any of it. "They just get me so angry."

"They always have and always will but, we're just going to have to deal with it.. for now anyway. And that's for me too because I would push them all off the top of the astronomy tower if I could."
