Why? Why now? Why did you have to make it so difficult?
I walked through the apparently lonely glade on my way to reluctantly visit the Evergreen. However, it wasn't as isolated as it seemed. As I hesitantly approached, blossoms opened and the ground rippled as the Spirits emerged. I heard a collective buzz as their voices joined the Land, which sang "Sing-Xie," before quieting to a hum.
I smiled gratefully and returned the greeting. I made to move foward, but paused.
It's not fair.
It's just not fair.
It wasn't her time.
As I reached the edge of the Evergreen, I took a deep breath and tucked away the tears that were threatening to spill over, to be released at a later date. As soon as I stepped foot on the center of the Evergreen, I sensed the Guamo shiver, and words shimmered into being in the fog that clouded the clearing.
The Guardians protect you, but the Land will lay you to rest.
Beneath the traditional song of the Land, there was a simple inscription.
A loyal Akuno. May the Song of the Land be with you on the Trail of Stars.
The tears that I had been struggling to hold back spilled over, and the Land mourned with me.
A/N: I know that the prologue isn't very good, please give it a chance, I promise it will be better.
