James had me right behind him as we navigated the empty halls. I had a pistol in one hand, that he had given to me as a precaution. This place was totally empty, we hadn't run into any survivors. I looked to the floor as we rounded a corner, attempting to return back to the living quarters, much to James resistance.
"Tell me why we're going back to the living quarters?" He asked, before I sighed with my hand grabbing his sleeve.
"It's the most secure area. The vents aren't large enough for the Alien's to crawl through. Their exoskeleton is hard, not flexible." I explained, as we walked closer. "And it's considered a good emergency shelter. There are food stocks, and a small infirmary just in case." I said as we walked in, locking the door behind us, the shutters closing.
"Why not the police station? Or the armory?" He asked, before I narrowed my eyes at him.
"You are part of security detail and you don't even know the risky areas?" I asked as we walked into the infirmary, making him sit. "Vent's are big in that area, I'm not sure why but I just know they are... They are human proof, not alien proof but here..." I sighed, pulling out a first aid kit. "People live here, they won't sleep with two eyes closed unless there is guaranteed safety." I explained, grabbing some alcohol and bandages.
I poured the alcohol on the graze wound, hearing James hiss. I chuckled, wiping off the blood gently. "You are part of the military and you still whine about alcohol?" I joked before he gently nodded. "Hey, it hurts." He said, before I shook my head and placed a large bandaid on the cut. I bit my lip, looking around.
"Worried about your pet?" He asked, practically reading my mind. I nodded, putting the first aid kit away.
"Yeah. I'm hoping he hasn't been killed." I sighed, sitting down next to him. I could tell he didn't know what to say, he was hired to protect me and others against the Xenomorph's, he hadn't ever encountered Zerksis, and wouldn't understand my worries.
"Well, I'm sure he's alright... He's different from the others, y'know? He's smart and an apex, he'll be alright." He grabbed my hand, trying to dismiss my worries. It helped a little bit but, you can never be satisfied unless you know for sure. "Thanks." I said in reply as we stood up and left back to our room.
"Can I ask you a question though, doll?" He asked, leaning against the door frame as I went in the room. "Shoot for it."
"How will you and him, like...?" He started, trying to form the words. "We have to escape. Supplies are limited here, we have to go back to Earth and report to the government of Yutani's crimes. We can't exactly bring a semi-tame Alien back to Earth doll." He sighed, as I bit my lip at his words. I knew this would happen, and James was right. I do love my creature, but I know we wouldn't be able to naturally be together. It's against the laws of nature, and it wouldn't be possible harboring an Alien life form on Earth, when he feeds on humans.
This was a dilemma, I don't know what to do.
"Yeah, I know. I guess we'll cross the bridge when we get there. For now we need to focus on getting on the other side of this ship. It's the size of a city, but there aren't just a few escape pods on board. They're large, and can fit a lot of people, so there has to be at least one still on board." I explained as he nodded, before standing and sifting through papers in the room, before finding a physical copy of the ship map. I laid it on the bed, pointing to the other side of the ship.
"That's where the other pods are. It's going to be a long walk there but... It's the only way we can escape. I say..." I placed my fingers on my lips as I thought, we can't just leave right now. "I say we stay for 24 hours. Rest up, get supplies and then make the walk."
