We all are living in KALIYUG , and in KALIYUG , the most important JEWEL of humans means the thing which they want is SATISFACTION.संतोष ही सबसे बड़ा अलंकार है । YES , You are thinking right. This main protagonist of this story is SANTOSHI MAA ( THE GODDESS OF SATISFACTION AND HAPPINESS). She was born on the auspicious day of RAKSHA-BANDHAN. She is the daughter of Ganesh ji and hence known as GAJANAN-SUTA(daughter of Ganesh or Gajanan). Riddhi and Siddhi are mothers of Santoshi Mata. She is the grand-daughter of Shivji and Mata Parvati , although she was born with the powers of Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Parvati. She is known as the most calm form of Goddess Durga. One can please Santoshi Mata very easily. He/She must have Satisfaction(SANTOSH) even in hardest situation of life and must have faith in Goddess Santoshi every time. She is depicted sitting in lotus holding Sword and Trident similar to her grandmother Parvati and holding a bowl of milk which signifies her purity and depicted giving blessings to her devotees. Now I am writing the story of 16 FRIDAY FAST STORY.
An old lady had 7 sons. Out of 7 sons, 6 sons earned money and their income status was high.The youngest son didn't earned anything. The mother didn't liked his seventh son. She gave left over foods of 6 children to him and always did partiality.His wife always tried to tell her husband about this fact but he didn't listened. The wife said,"Ok. You will see with your own eyes now." Next day there was an occasion in their house. Many types of sweets including Laddoo were made in their house. The old woman called her six sons. "Come. Please complete your lunch." The six sons completed their lunch. The seventh son was observing all the scenario. The old woman called her seventh son after her six sons completed their lunch. She took the leftover foods of her six sons , arranged them in a plate and said,"Son. Please come for lunch. Your six brothers have completed their lunch. You please come." The son said,"I saw what you did. I am leaving this house. I will prove myself as a successful man, then only I will return." Mother angrily said,"Go away." The man said to his wife,"I will prove myself as a successful man and I will return soon."
He went. The old lady and her other daughter-in-laws start torturing the woman. She had no other chance but has to bear all these until her husband returns. Her husband became a successful man but he want to earn more , he forgot about his wife , but his wife always waited for her husband. One day the woman was going to the forest to collect woods and at that time she heard some women talking about Santoshi Mata. The woman said,"How to perform Santoshi Mata' s fast(vrat) ? The women said,"Santoshi Maa is a very kind hearted goddess. Her day is Friday. On that day wake up early. Place Santoshi Mata' s picture. First offer your prayers to Santoshi Mata' s father Ganesh ji and then pray to Shivji and Mata Parvati and then start Santoshi Mata' s Puja. You should offer chick peas, jaggery, milk, banana and coconut to Maa and enlighten an incense stick (agarbatti) and light a candle , but remember one thing , don't offer any sour food items to goddess and you also please do not eat any sour item of food made with sour items because Santoshi Mata is Goddess of Satisfaction and sour items is a symbol of not being satisfied. You should do the fast for 16 Fridays and on the 16th Friday perform an UDYAPAN ceremony and offer food and sweet to small 8 boys. Do the same thing, do not offer any sour food to the boys.Offer your devotions to GAU-MATA(cow) also." The next Friday the woman started her Puja and fast(vrat). Santoshi Mata became happy. Santoshi Mata appeared in her husband's dream and said,"My son. You have earned a lot of money , but do you remember your wife. She remembers you everyday but she is tortured by her in laws every moment." He remembered his wife. The next Friday the woman got letter from her husband and the third Friday her husband sent money to her. The in laws of the woman start getting jealous.
The woman went to Santoshi Mata and said,"Maa , I want my husband back." The same day Santoshi Mata again appeared in her husband's dream and said,"My Son, my daughter wants you back. She wants you to be with her always." The man said,"Tell me what shall I do ?" Santoshi Mata said,"My son wake up early in the morning. Take a bath. Enlighten an earthen lamp and offer it to Santoshi Maa. My father Ganesh ji is the remover of every obstacle(VIGHNA-HARTA) . Start your journey and reach home happily and make my daughter happy." The man said,"Ok mother. I will obey You." The man wake up early in the morning and did as ordered by Mata Rani. He went to his home and his wife became happy, but he was surprised to see that his wife was treated as a maid in the house. He said,"Now I have come. Now everything will be fine. It's all because of SANTOSHI MATA." The 16th week of fast came. The woman said,"This Friday is the Udyapan ceremony and Puja of Santoshi Mata." Her husband said,"Yes you are right." The woman told the sons of her in-laws to sit during the Puja ceremony for rituals in Puja. Friday came. The woman sincerely prepared Sweets, Laddoo and many other delicious food items. The in-laws told their sons to ask sour items when they will be served Prasad and food. The boys did as they were told. The woman said,"This is SANTOSHI MATA'S Puja and you cannot eat any citric food items." The boys asked for money. The woman gave them money and they bought tamarind with the money and spoiled the Puja ceremony. Santoshi Mata became angry. The man worked under a king. The king's soldier came and took away her husband. She thought they were arresting him. She went to Santoshi Mata and said,"Maa. You are calm and soft hearted and cannot hurt anyone. Maa you know it's not my fault. What shall I do know.?" Santoshi Mata appeared and said,"Daughter . I know it's not your fault. Perform the Udyapan ceremony again. Your husband is safe." She saw that her husband was coming towards him. He said,"The soldiers took me for some calculations in business." His wife said,"I will perform Udyapan ceremony again." Her husband became happy when he listened to her wife's word. The next Friday again she performed Udyapan ceremony again and she invited children from neighbourhood. Santoshi Maa became happy and blessed them with a son. Her in - laws realised their mistake and apologised. Everyone became Santoshi Mata's devotee and everything became fine thereafter. Santoshi Mata said,"The best way to reach me is to follow the path of devotion , but always keep one thing in mind, whenever negativity will overpower positivity , then to end negativity my devotees must end negativity with a special weapon named Satisfaction(SANTOSH). SANTOSH is not the weak part of human, rather its tge strongest part of humans.
