The sound of the alarm on the bedside table would always be followed with the feeling of dread, at least that was the case for a 17 year old called July King.

Of course for most teenagers school was a drag, but there was more to it for July, she was scared to go to school, but nevertheless she would go everyday, straight after delivering papers, and she knew this day would be no different as she finally got up from her bed.

She took no more than ten minutes to take a shower and another ten to get herself dressed, since she had her hair in chunky braids now. She put her shoes, bag and coat at the front door, and of course the stack of newspapers she had to deliver. She made some food for her mum (A/N: I'm British so I'm spelling it my way😂) whilst eating a banana for breakfast, she filled a small medication cup up with the necessary pills and took it to the bedroom.
"Mum, I made you some breakfast." She said with a cheery tone hoping that her beaming smile would make her mum feel better.

"Thank you princess, I'm feeling a lot better today I might try and do some cleaning, take some of the weight off your shoulders." The curly haired woman couldn't help but smile, as she thought about how proud of her daughter she was.

"Don't force yourself to, its ok if you can't handle it mum, it's just...the last time you tripped and ended up in hospital." The young girl spoke quietly, as she looked at her mums pale complexion, although her mum was white, she had always been quite tan, until recently.

"July, don't worry about me as much anymore, focus on school." Her mum answered softly, but couldn't stop her brown eyes from scanning over her daughter as she noticed her change in body language.
"July?"
The younger girl looked away, trying to avoid eye contact with her mum, she
could tell her mum anything, but she really didn't want to stress her out.
"What's going on at school?"

"Mum I really have to le-"
"I know you can spare thirty seconds to tell me the truth." Her mum said sternly.
"Ok...I'm kinda getting bugged by some kids at school."
"Racism?"
"No mum, I mean they are all different cultures, one of them is mixed just like me...so."
"I'll call in today-"
"No! Please..."
The girls mum sighed to her self as she tucked her jet black hair behind her ears. She wished she could help, but she also knew her daughter could handle herself.
As for July she couldn't help but feel worried about school, however she chose to give her mum a smile as she said her goodbyes.
