Chapter Two: Campfire Stories

Night Falls..

Zach, Malik and Luke carried some wood for the campfire and dropped them in the center. Lauren, Lucy and Mandy were preparing some food and water for later. While Felix and Shadow were fixing the sleeping bags.

Zach wiped a bead of sweat around his forehead and smiled, "Good job, everyone. The camp's looking great."

"I can't wait to start the campfire!" Mandy squealed. "We can eat S'mores, tell stories and lots more stuff!" She added. Felix chuckled at her excitement.

"Hey, Mal. You got the matches?" Luke hollered and dropped some more wood.

"Yep!" Malik answered and held out the box of matches. "The campfire set?"

"Yeah, we just need to get some more rocks then we're done." Luke replied and made a circle of rocks around the wood. "Hey, girls. Mind getting some more rocks?" Luke called.

"Nope! Come on!" Lauren exclaimed and dragged Lucy and Mandy on the way.

Later...

Everyone sat down around the warm fire and held marshmallows on sticks, then put them near the fire.

"This is going great. Isn't it?" Luke murmured to Zach. Zach smiled a little and nodded, he looked blankly at the fire. Luke's smile faltered a little. "You alright?"

"It's just.." Zach whispered, his eye showing sadness. "I wish Natalie was here.." He looked down. Luke frowned a little, he knew Zach liked Natalie for a while. He put a hand on his shoulder.

"It's alright, man. We could invite her somewhere else some other day." Luke smiled. Zach nodded and smiled back. Then Felix went in between them.

"Hey, Lucy's about to tell a story." Felix smiled. Luke and Zach nodded and faced Lucy who was standing up.

"Okay, this is a story my parents used to tell me." Lucy said. "It might be a little scary, so watch out." Lucy smirked.

"Alright, one rainy night, when my father used to be a young teen. He would always stare out the window of his house, looking into the lush forest, he was known to be adventurous and curious that time. So, one day, when he asked his parents if he could go into that forest, his parents shook their head and said:

"'You shouldn't go there, son. There's a legend about a monster living there.' My father didn't listen, he was stubborn. So that night, he snuck out and went into the forest anyway. He only brought a flash light and hoodie with him as he wandered around the forest, alone. But, then.."

Lauren and Mandy gasped dramatically. Lucy chuckled a little.

"He heard footsteps, very close and loud. When he would look back, though, nothing was there. So he carried on, but the footsteps repeated for a few more times, my father started getting a little spooked out. So he just clutched tighter into his hoodie and flash light, then.. he felt something.. SWOOSH BY!"

Shadow nearly fell out of his position in surprise, but he kept his balance. Everyone's eyes started to widen a little at the story.

"Scared, he waved the flash light side to side, he couldn't see anything but the trees. But then, his flash light's batteries died.. He turned it on and off frantically, then he heard a creepy laugh, one so creepy that it sent a chill down his spine..

"'Hello?' He called, but nobody answered. The laugh only continued echoing. Then, when he saw two red eyes in the distance, he ran. Not knowing where he was going. He desperately wanted to just get out of the forest, but it seemed he was getting more and more lost in the forest.. Then, he reached a dead end..

"'Oh no.' He mumbled and saw the two red eyes staring right at him, he carefully and fearfully tried going closer to inspect the two eyes.. when he was close enough.. he called out to it and said 'Who or what are you?' The two eyes just remained silent and stared at him, but when my father reached out.."

Lucy paused and looked at them silently, the two girls were hugging each other in fear, Shadow, Malik and Luke had their mouths gaped in curiosity, and Zach and Felix widened their eyes.

"When he reached out.." Lucy repeated, "THE MONSTER ATE HIM!"

"AHHHHHHH!" Everyone gasped, Mandy and Lauren scrambled to a tent while Luke, Zach, Malik, Shadow and Felix fell from their seats and groaned. Lucy chuckled.

"Guys, it's just a story." Lucy called to the two girls hiding in a tent.

"I-I don't wanna get eaten!" Mandy squeaked.

"M-Me too!" Lauren cried. Shadow and Felix stood up at the same time and went to them.

Lucy sat back down, "So, anyone else have their stories to tell?"

"I have." Zach smirked.

"I do!" Felix hollered while comforting Mandy.

"I have one." Luke smirked.

After The Campfire Stories..

"Good night everyone. Don't let our stories get to you." Zach laughed a little and crawled to his tent with Malik.

"Night!" Everyone else replied. Then everyone fell asleep..
