After an hour, a sense of worry begins to taint Tony's thoughts. If it was any other person, they may have thought that if someone went to so much trouble to keep it hidden, then maybe it should stay that way, but Tony isn't like other people. He drags his hands down his face, exhaustion finally setting in after too many sleepless nights, but a chime from FRIDAY fights it off and he practically runs to read the file. He's sure it's the right one when a recent photo of her is shown and her name is displayed with "CLASSIFIED" stamped across it.
"Y/N Y/L/N"
"SHIELD was first alerted to her presence by the massive waves of energy radiating off of her. Agents were dispatched to the location and when they came across a female mutant it was thought that the power was emitted by her. She engaged the agents and unfortunately, this combat resulted in her death. Believing that the mission had ended, the agents started back to HQ to give their official report, but were alerted by SHIELD analysts that the power source was still appearing on their detectors. They rescanned the area and Agent," redacted, "heard a baby crying in the same alleyway that the woman was found. The agents then rushed the baby back to HQ where scientists did multiple DNA tests on her to find that she had," redacted. The file continued but Tony was becoming irritated with the black lines and told FRIDAY to find a copy that was free from redactions.
After a few minutes, the original file appeared on the holographic screen. They continued from where they left off.
"Where scientists did multiple DNA tests to find that she had powers of Healing and Inter-dimensional travel. After learning this, she was assigned the alias "Y/N Y/L/N and two agents were assigned to protect her and take over the role of parents in the girl's life and when old enough, junior agent, Natasha Hunt would be placed in the girl's school with the task of getting close to her." The Avengers exchange glances, trying to think why SHIELD would go through so much just to give this girl a normal life.
Bruce swipes to last page of the file.
"And when her DNA was crossed with every other strand in the database, the board members, including Agent Fury swore an oath to never reveal that this girl was the offspring of the mutant and Tony Stark."
