Unknown POV:

What is she wearing? Her make-up is thicker than Sister Flora's! She couldn't help that her eyes swung to her occasionally throughout the sermon. Curiosity and nothing more! The child is and was tore up from the floor up. What is someone like her doing here? Sure the church was made for everyone especially, sinners like the woman in question but there were still standards.

She was dressed like a common streetwalker. The spandex body con dress molded her lumpy body. I can't believe he stared at her almost all through his sermon! He never looked at ME like that! Uncle assured her that he would be hers' and he always delivered. Rolling her eyes, knuckles whitened as she clutched the thick program, fanning herself. It was hot but she was sure that where girls like her ended up was far hotter. Chuckling softly, she rose to her feet and rocked in time to the music. The program was coming to an end. It was time for alter call.

Smiling she glanced around at the congregation. The church was filled with a diverse group of members. The ages ranged from the oldest member, Mother Francis a sprightly 92 year old to the youngest, Gregory and Gwendela's twins. Greg Jr. and Gabby who just turned three months old. God is good and he had blessed the church with new members almost daily.

She knew every member by name and even went to school with a few of them. To her they were like family and today was just another Sunday. She lived for Sundays. The music, the energy, and the fellowship. She loved it all! She wasn't a bible thumper but she liked, no loved church. It was embedded in her DNA. The love of being of service.

I know Lord he without sin should cast the first stone but she is definitely not a regular! Besides I am a woman and any woman would be concerned about the meaningful way her man was looking at another woman. She didn't know where the woman came from but she was most definitely not wanted. As a problem solver she hated anomalies and obviously that woman was one. She could see other sisters in the congregation giving her sideways glances.

All eyes trailed her as she walked into the sanctuary. They always noticed stragglers or new faces. Everyone was silently judging her but some were bolder then others when it came to expressing themselves. All of her life she knew how to play the game. How to keep the tongues from wagging in disapproval. Her aunties and grandmother taught her well.

A few men boldly stared at her with lust clouded eyes. Drool practically rain out of the sides of their salivating mouths. Thirsty! Their significant others smacked them upside their head's. Smack, crackle, and pop. Leather pointed glances delivered in the blimps direction. The woman sat down and glanced towards the pulpit. Her mannerism cool and her face serene. "Jezebel!", her Aunt Mary whispered. Her grandmother Abigail cleared her throat and threw a withering look the woman's direction.

She was raised to keep her thoughts to herself unless they served her well. To think before she spoke and to always treat a man good but don't be stupid and treat him too good. Once you treat a man too well he gets comfortable. From the time she was a little girl she listened to them and their lessons to this day have served her well.

Besides what better role models were there for her. Her grandmother was a dutiful wife and mother for over fifty years. Until her grandfather was. called home last year. After his death there were several changes in the church. As the Pastor and founding member of the church his death left a great void. Not just in the church but also at home. Despite her loss like a true warrior of God her grandmother soldiers' on.

Her aunt, another good role model, is a dotting mother, aunt, and wife. Not only was she her husband's right hand woman but she was a certified Marriage Counselor. Aunt Mary is married to a successful Pastor in LA. Uncle Franklin has a congregation of over 10,000 and it is growing continuous. His sermons broadcast live every second and fourth Sunday.

She took their advice and practiced what they preached. In all of her twenty-six years it has served her well. She never heard anyone speak a bad word against her. Everyone knew her. She was after all Abigail and Jacob's grand baby. The only grandchild from their departed beloved son, Luther. Unfortunately, he died young while serving his country.

Her parents had a special bond. Riddled with grief her mother caved under pressure and loss. She left her infant daughter with her in-laws and hasn't been heard from since. She liked to believe that her mother's abandonment was actually a blessing. She basked in the love that her father's parents and his older sister gave her. She survived and with a minimum amount of scars.

She had a squeaky clean image that even Mr. Clean would envy. She volunteered on every committee, was a Sunday school teacher, and was even the churches secretary. Unlike the rest of the church's members she supported the new direction that they were heading. They had a new pastor and she was looking forward to seeing what Alo did to bring the church up to date.

She wasn't going to lie or deny her feelings. She had a thing for Alo. Ever since she first laid eyes on him she wanted him but he didn't seem to notice her. Of course he was polite. He was a total gentleman. He was not only young but also handsome. All of the unmarried women and some of the married ones couldn't help but look at him. He always had a kind word and an easy smile.

Yes, indeed he is my ideal man and I'll be darned if I let some hussy have him. She worked too hard and waited too long for a man like him to come along. If she had to get down and dirty then so be it. She was flexible. Besides a man would be blessed to have her as his wife. As the good book says in Proverbs 18:22 "He who finds a wife finds a good thing..." She was most definitely a good thing. Besides she was tired of being a bridesmaid and never the bride. It was her time and Alo was her man. She wasn't like Dolly Parton who begged Jolene not to take her man. She'd make sure no one took Alo away from her. And that is a promise.
