Toni's POV
I'm cuddling with Cheryl in the couch right now while the kids are at school. I haven't seen Betty or Veronica in a bit, so either Betty is working and Veronica is sleeping, or they're fucking.

Either way in happy just to be with Cheryl. We have had Madi for 3 weeks, she's gone to school for 2 and half weeks, but when they are home it's louder than now.

Having 5 people in the house can get, chaotic. But we all love each other so it's fine. Madi has decided she wants to walk home and Veronica picks up Alec.

Veronica walks down the stairs and into the kitchen. Betty doesn't come down so I'm assuming Veronica was sleeping.

Veronica walks out holding a mug of coffee. "I'm gonna go pick up Alec. See you guys in a bit." Veronica says getting her keys.

Knowing that soon Madi will be home soon, I turn off what we are watching, considering she is only 13, and the movie is R-Rated.

We turn on something more appropriate, but stay cuddling. A few minutes later Madi comes in. Except I hear two voices.

Me and Cheryl turn around and see another girl standing with Madi. She was standing really close to Madi, which made me confused.

I turn and look at Cheryl who has the same reaction. "Hi Cheryl, Toni. This is my, friend, Max." Madi says.

I raise my eyebrow at the way she said friend. Before I could say anything the girls ran upstairs to Madis bedroom.

"Give it a few weeks. They won't just be friends." I say to Cheryl. She smirks and raises her eyebrows.

"I bet it's two months." Cheryl says. I roll my eyes smirking.

"It's a bet. $20?" I ask Cheryl. She nods and we shake hands. I laugh.

Madis POV
I think I really like Max. 2 weeks ago I told Cheryl and Toni I liked girls, and they didn't have a problem with it. Obviously.

I want to at least tell Max I'm gay, but I'm nervous. And I want to tell her I like her even less because I don't even know if she's gay. And if she's not and I tell her that would be awful and embarrassing and-

"Mads you okay?" Max snaps me out of my thoughts. I look over at her, and I can tell she genuinely cares. I nod.

"Okay. Wanna start with our homework?" She asks. I smile and nod. Max moves over and sits beside me, laying her head on my shoulder.

I really hope she cant see my face because it's as red a tomato. After doing our homework for a bit we stop.

"Okay guess what?" Max says. I look at her questioningly until she starts talking again.

"Kelly Mason has redeemed herself. She hasn't done anything wrong. So before you came to school today, she asked me to go the dance with her!" Max says, shattering my heart.

"That's, great. Did you say yes?" I ask. Max nods, figuratively killing me.

"Awesome. The dance is in 3 weeks right?" I ask. Max nods. Great. Only 3 week to get over the person I spend lots of my time with. Awesome.

"You okay?" Max asks looking into my eyes. I just nod, knowing I wouldn't be able to verbally lie to her.

"Okay. Well I gotta go. Text you later." Max says. She hugs me before leaving.

As soon as I know shes gone I close my door and start crying into my pillow. After a few minutes I hear a knock at my door.

"Hey. It's Toni. Can I come in?" She ask. I quickly wiped away my tears and made sure you couldn't tell my pillow was wet.

"Uh yeah. Come in." I say sitting up. Toni opens the door and sits down beside me.

"So this Max girl, so you like her right?" Toni asks. I look at her in the eyes and slowly nod. She smiles.

"Does she like you?" Toni asks. I shake my head no and start crying again. Toni pulls me into her chest as I cry.

"It's okay baby. There was a point I liked Cheryl but she hated my guts. At least she's your friend right?" Toni says.

I pull away, smile and nod. "Thanks... mom." I say. Toni's face lights up as she pulls me into a big hug.

"Yes. Cheryl owes me 15 dollars now." Toni says. I laugh.

"You bet on who would be called mom first?" I ask. Toni nods.

"Oh kid, me and Cher bet on literally everything. In high school we bet on which of my friends, Fangs and Sweet Pea, would sled down a roof. It was Sweet Pea. I won 50 dollars." Toni says proudly.

I burst out in laughter, forgetting about that heartbreak that had occurred 10 minutes ago.

For the first time ever, I truly feel like I belong, and I know these people are my family.
