Madis POV
A week ago I was in an orphanage preparing for the fair. Now I'm walking down the halls of a new school.
I am coming half way through the school and just starting. This'll be awkward. Luckily, Cheryl knows the teacher and talked to her about my situation.
I am walking down the hall with the principal going to Ms. McCoys class. We walk into the classroom and see the teacher.
"Hi. I'm Josie McCoy, Cheryl and Toni's friend. You will call me Ms. McCoy. I'm aware you have just got adopted after living in a home for a p years, so you might be a bit behind. I will help catch you up, and I have a student who will help." She says.
The bell rings. "Okay follow me." Ms. McCoy says. I walk behind her through the halls. We get to the lockers with the students in our class and stop.
I stand against the wall as Ms. McCoy goes to talk to a girl at her locker.
The girl nods and she walks away. "Okay. Let's go." Ms. McCoy starts leading the class down to the classroom.
Everyone sits down, so I stand at the back of the room. "Okay class. This is the new girl I was talking about. Madi." Ms. McCoy says.
I see the girl she was talking to and smile. She looks nice. "Madi, you will sit beside Miss Mantle." Ms. McCoy says.
I'm happy when I realize 'Miss Mantle' is the girl I keep seeing. I walk over and sit in the desk beside her.
"My name is Max, by the way. And you are Madi?" The brunette says. I nod.
"Nice to meet you." She says. I smile. She smiles back revealing a nice pair of dimples.
-Lunch-
The school we are at has a cafeteria, so that sucks. I have talked to a few people, Colton Clayton, Kelly Mason, Peter Fogarty and Abby Brown.
The only person I've talked to that I actually like is the extra attractive Max Mantle. Side note, I think I'm gay.
I walk into the cafeteria unable to find Max. Someone walks up behind me and puts their hands on my shoulders.
I jump forward and turn around realizing it's Max. "Jesus Christ. Dude you can't just do that to someone!" I yell.
"Sorry. Wanna come sit with me?" Max says. I smile and nod. Max leads me over to a table with a boy and a girl sitting there.
"Guys this is Madi Topaz. Madi, these two are Evan Evernever and my twin sister Miley Mantle." Max says.
"Hi." I say. I sit down and look around. Looking for the other people I have talked to.
"Who are you looking for? Have you talked to other people? That's awesome. ." Max asks. I nod.
"Colton Clayton, Kelly Mason, Peter Fogarty and Abby Brown." I say to them. Miley's eyes get wide.
"Shit. They are bad news." Miley looks to Max, then Evan, then me. "Why are we still here. We know what they are planning!"
Miley starts walking with me, Evan and Max in foot. Max can tell I'm freaking out and rubs my back. I smile at her.
We walk around until we find the four at my locker, about to spray paint something on it.
"Leave her the hell alone." Max says. I run and grab the can.
"Aw come on. We were just having some fun." Peter says. Max rolls her eyes.
"Colton, why are you with them?" Evan asks. Colton looks down, and then at us.
"They made me!" Colton says.
"Leave the new kid alone. Got it Fogarty?" Max says. Peter just nods. "Good." Max says.
We walk back to the cafeteria. I sit down beside Max. Max pulls my chair closer to hers and rubs my back, telling I'm still tense.
I smile at her, feeling my face burn. I look at Colton. I smile. I could get used to actual school.
-After School-
Cheryl and Toni pick us up when school ends. I say by to Max and Miley, both of which I swapped phone numbers with.
"So how'd you like school?" Cheryl asks. I smile.
"It was okay. I didn't really understand much of the work, but I made a few friends. Max and Miley." I say.
We get home and I run up to my room and jump on my bed. I take out my phone and message Max.
Madi
Hey.
Max
Hi!
Madi
Thanks for making
my first day of actual
school not living hell
Max
No problem!
Madi
I uh gotta go.
I'll talk to you later.
Max
Bye!
I see Toni standing in my doorway so I turn off my phone and put it on my nightstand. "What's up?" I ask her.
"Would you tell me if you liked someone?" She asks me. I look at her and then my phone.
"I guess. Speaking of, I think I might be a lesbian..." I say. Toni grins widely.
"Good for you. You like Max?" She asks. I smile and start blushing.
"Cool. Well I have to go help Cheryl with dinner. Bye." Toni leaves my room, leaving me to smile by myself.
