(Datastream POV)
I'm relaxing when I hear the door slam open, and the type of door slam either means one of two things: Classic Undyne is visiting, or Nightlight has come back in a panic. Thankfully, it's the latter.
Wait. No. That's not a thing to thank!
"What the! What's going...On..?"
My outburst dies away on my mouth as I see an unconscious Shattered Dream in Nightlights arms.
"He's hurt!" Nightlight says, "He tried to leave Erase and stop doing those horrible things and Erase attacked him and... And..."
"And you brought him HERE?" I try hard not to yell, but this is insane! Bringing one of out most deadly enemies into our HOME where the universe loom is!
"Look at him! Does it really look like he could hurt anyone right now?" Nightlight argues fiercely.
As I look over Dream, I have to agree. He is bleeding the corruption goop and marrow from a bunch of tiny cut and breaks all over him. There's a clatter as one of his ribs falls off and hits the ground, the sight of the broken off bone makes my magic recoil.
"My brother wants to get better. To heal in more ways than one. Surely you can't begrudge him for that and deny me the first smidge of hope I've felt in a long time? Please, let him stay, I'll keep a close eye on him and make sure he doesn't get in any trouble! Just until he heals if nothing else!"
I looks at Nightlight long and hard and, with a sigh, push my glasses up and nod. His eyes brighten and he grins,
"Thank you so so much!" He nearly squeals, rushing off to one of the spare room to start piecing Dream back together.
I wait till he's out of sight and walk to the room that holds the loom. Glancing over my shoulder to make sure Nightlight isn't watching, I take the key out of my pocket and lock the door. Nightlight's story or not, I don't trust Dream. He has done too much to hurt all of us and the universes to able able to trust him. This could all be a trick to destroy everything we know and love.
Testing to make sure the door is really locked, I walk to the room where Nightlight is healing Dream. The green light emanating from Nightlights hands makes me squint for a moment. But when I can clearly see, I see that Nightlight has completely healed all of Dreams wounds, even regrown the lost rib. I shake my head in amazement, how he heals that well is beyond me.
"...uggggh..."
Shattered Dream groans as he slowly wakes up.
"Bro...Ther? Wha... Where am I? What happened to my wounds?"
Nightlights smiles, "You're at our base, and I healed you all up! You might be a tiny bit sore but you'll be okay!"
"T... Thank you.."
I watch this suspiciously, call me crazy but I don't believe that Dream would change on a dime. It just doesn't make sense, just yesterday he was sneering, laughing, and rescuing Erase from being tied up. What changed? Why did they turn against each other?
I scowl, Nightlight is totally starstruck with his brother being back, I'd only hurt his feelings by telling him my suspicions. Looks like for now I'm going to have to keep my thoughts to myself and keep a very close eye on Dream.
"Hey... Datastream?" Dreams voice cuts sharply through my thoughts
"Hmm?" I reply, narrowing my eyes at the corrupted skeleton.
"I know you don't trust me, and I know why and it makes sense that you would hate me. But thank you for letting me stay here and get away him. Maybe I can prove to you that I can be trusted, I know it will take a while but.. But I think if you give me a chance then I'll be able to prove that I really do want to get better!"
"It's hard to believe anything that a monster with a stained soul says. Especially from one as silver-tongued as you Shattered Dream." I reply sharply, perhaps too sharply as I see Dream wince.
"Please... Just call me Dream. And I DO want to get better. I promise."
I glare, and advance slowly.
"Now you listen to me, your brother really believes that you can change. And I am willing to give you a chance. But if you hurt him, if you look like you are about to start hurting anyone here, then I will end you. No matter Nightlight's love for you. Got it?"
Dream swallows hard.
"Y-yes sir. S-speaking of my brother, where is he?"
I look around, Nightlight is nowhere to be seen. Hm, strange, he's probably just gone off to think and squeal in excitement.
"That doesn't matter. Now lay down and go back to sleep." I order. Dream nods and lays back down. Within seconds he's asleep. I sigh and head to the living room to watch some TV, as I'm watching I wonder. Where DID Nightlight go?
