Aquagirl!
I turned and my eyes widened as the weapons hurtled towards me.
Before it could hit, Kaldur was in front of me.
I could only watch as my friend fell to the ground, blood pooling underneath him.
Then I shook myself out of my stupor. Finish the mission, then worry about Kaldur. Do the same thing I did during the war.
And all your friends died because of it.
I ignored that thought and kicked the enemy away.
Aqualad is down. So hurry up and get your butts over here.
Why do you think you can give me orders? Connor growled over the link.
Oh, I'm sorry do you want your leader to bleed out?!
I slammed some water into a baddie, a yellow blur rushing past only for Wally to skid to a stop.
"That's not good."
Dropping to my knees, I rolled Kaldur over.
"Yeah, not good." I mumbled and pressed my hands against the large gash.
"I can't carry him. Superboy can-"
He shut up as I slipped my arms under Kaldur and picked him up.
"Weak." I rolled my eyes at him before heading to where I knew the Bioship was waiting.
Wally ran past me again and I sighed, casting a glance down at Kaldur.
This is when I'm glad for demigod strength.
And for Kaldur falling asleep on my floor everytime he would stay over.
"Is he okay?" Megan flew over and I reluctantly released him as he floated out of my arms.
"Do we have a med kit?" I wiped my bloodstained hands on my pants.
"Yeah, I'll stitch him up." Rob walked up the ramp, following Megan and Kaldur.
Sighing, I made my way after him, standing in the doorway as he prepped a needle.
"You seem awfully unconcerned for him being your best friend." Artemis commented.
"I'm used to seeing him hurt. He's accident prone."
"Accident prone or willing to die for you?"
I tensed as those words left Connor's mouth.
Then I sighed.
"Kaldur isn't that stupid. Now give me that." I took the needle from Robin, quickly stitching the large gash. "Not that hard to do people."
Rob put up his hands and walked out, door closing behind him.
I stared at Kaldur, his chest barely moving.
Somehow I laughed. He seems so small when he's hurt. Maybe because he looks more like sixteen than an adult.
I wonder if that's how I look too. After all, we're both just kids who had to grow up way too fast.
"I'm sorry Kaldur...for all of this. If I...If I paid attention..."
He chuckled softly. "I am fine. It is just a flesh wound."
"Stop being me Kaldur." I smiled squeezing his hand. "I didn't know you were awake already."
"Then do not blame yourself for this. Do not blame yourself for me doing my job."
I stared at him. "I have mentioned that I hate your job right?"
He slowly sat up, hand pressing to his stitches in some sort of attempt to stop them from hurting.
"Several times. Now help me out there."
I nodded and let him use me as support so we could go out to the cockpit.
"Kaldur, you shouldn't be up dude."
"I will be fine Wally. Thank you." He nodded at me as he took his seat, restraints carefully forming around his injury.
I took my seat and closed my eyes.
Thank the gods he's okay. If anything would have happened to him...If he would have died...
Well, he's one of the few people I have left and I really don't know what I would do.
This is why I hate his oath. If I die...Dad's going to kill him.
But if he dies...
It's all my fault.
And it'll be like today except the injury will be a lot more serious and I won't be able to get him help and it's going to be all my fault not to say today isn't because I know it-
"Stop Percy. I know what you are thinking."
"You know it's true."
"No it isn't! It is not your fault." Kaldur sighed. "I want you to stay in my room tonight."
"Why?"
"Because I don't want you doing anything stupid or not sleeping or something."
I didn't respond and the rest of our trip home was spent in silence.
At least until Rob and KF started talking.
"What did you get as a souvenir this time?"
"A cape, it was in one of the crates that the one dude threw at me. I think it'll look good next to Chesire's mask."
"I don't think it'll match, the colors are a bit off."
"Shut up dude. What are you a fashion designer?" Wally folded the cape back up.
"We're home. Stand by for landing."
I tapped my foot until my seat released me. Almost instantly I was at Kaldur's side and I help him down the ramp and to his room.
"Are you going to get a shower tonight or do you want me to kinda hose you down?" I raised an eyebrow.
"I would prefer for you to do it, I would have less chance of the stitches getting wet."
I nodded and kinda blasted him with water, the remaining blood tinting it a light pink.
Then it evaporated into a puff of steam.
"Go get a shower. I am going to get ready for bed."
"Okay."
I headed for the showers, grabbing a washrag and a towel from the closet before entering.
The warm water streamed over me, causing my muscles to relax.
After I was done I went to my room to get dressed, and instead of going straight to Kaldur's room I headed for the kitchen.
Cookies are stashed in a cabinet and I want to get to them before Wally.
Thankfully I did. Unfortunately, Artemis was drinking a cup of water.
She didn't say anything while I got my cookies but as I left...
She said seven simple words. Seven words that hurt so much.
"It was your fault he got hurt."
This might be crap cause I'm half asleep and typing this during the superbowl
Anyway...
See yah
