Lex's POV

Before we got to the tattoo shop, we got ramen at a little place in town. We didn't go too far from where we were staying, and conveniently, there was a shop in town.

"Lex, you ready?" Jake looked over and squeezed my hand.

"I'm nervous, but yeah." I smiled. I never knew why, but I always got so nervous before getting tattoos.

We walked in, artwork lined the walls, and California Dreamin' was playing on the radio. Coming over to the desk was a girl with short red hair and cat eye glasses. We discussed the tattoo I wanted, coming up with a vintage-looking sun with "you're my sunshine" on the top and bottom, in Jake's writing of course. I sat down in the chair and get the stencil put on my forearm. And then with Jake clutching my hand, she began. The numbing buzz of the machine was somewhat relaxing. I was beyond happy to be getting the tattoo I'd dreamt of for years.

"Thank you Jakey." I lightly giggled, trying not to move too much. I had my head leaned back, tilted to look into Jake's chocolate eyes.

"Anything for you." He grinned.

"Hey, I think I might get something... I'm nervous though, since it's my first." Jake blushed when he said that.

My tattoo was about three quarters of the way finished. I was intrigued when he said he wanted something, so I asked him what.

"What're you thinkin' about getting?"

"Weeeellll," he dragged, smirking in the process.

"I was thinking that you could doodle a little sun for me, because you're my little ray of sunshine. It could go along with yours from me." Jake looked down at his feet, still smiling.

"Of course babe! Would that be okay?" I asked the redhead, who was almost done.

"Yeah, it's chill." She said, focusing on her finishing touches.

Around 15 minutes later, it was finished and I was absolutely in love with it.

"That's so fucking cool babe." Jake said as he examined the details.

"Well, it's your turn now!" I smiled.

Jake's POV

I didn't know why I was so nervous. There was a damn plate in my arm from breaking it, and I still played through that. 'This'll be nothing compared to that' I told myself.

I focused on Lex slowly drawing the little sun that was about to be on me forever. Though it was small, she still took her time.

"How's that?" She questioned.

"Perfect." I gave her a quick kiss, then she handed the girl the paper so she could make the stencil. Sitting in the chair, I nervously bobbed my leg. The cold stencil was placed on the right side of my inner left hand wrist. I focused Lex and on the classic rock playing in the background. As soon as the gun hit my skin, I winced a bit, but quickly got used to it.

"You look so fuckin' cute when you scrunch your face like that." Lex smiled.

"Oh, shut up." I joked and rolled my eyes, scrunching my face just for her amusement.
