Obscured Reality

CHAPTER 4

It's been a month since I and Azrael has gotten close. I'm happy to have him as a friend. After an exhausting Monday from school, here I am walking lazily out of my car. I carried my shoulder bag in my right hand but someone snatch it from me. I was about to shout but a hand covered my mouth. I keep struggling to the snatcher until I saw a familiar car. I became calm and got in the car. "What do you want now, Azrael?" I asked him while he is starting the ignition of the car.

"Let's escape, would you come with me?" he stated casually as if talking about the weather. He looks at me with hope on his eyes. I nod and he smiled sincerely and run his car. Maybe I'm really crazy, I'm actually leaving my life here for someone I just met. But hey, I have nothing to lose anymore. I reach for his IPod and started playing some music. 'I Like Me Better' by Lauv is currently playing. A Perfect song for the mood right now. I open the windows and feel the wind crashing on my face. I lift my hands and close my hands not minding the danger of it.

"Damn, I like me better when I'm with you" He sang along and wow he is actually good at it, the song suits his voice. "I knew from the first time, I'd stay for a long time 'cause, I like me better when I'm with you" he continued singing along while the car comes to a stop because of the stop light. I am now looking flustered 'cause he suddenly hold my hand and lifted my chin in his direction as he sings the chorus of the song. He laughed at my reaction as he drives with his left hand while his right hand is intertwined with mine.

I didn't know I had slept for about four hours and we're still on the road. I look at Azrael worried that he might be sleepy and tired. "Do you want me to drive? You look tired." I suggested but he only laughed at me. "You don't even know where I am taking you and you want to drive? Just relax there, we are five hours near"

As much as I want to drive for him to rest, he won't say to me where are we going. I look on the backseat and found a basket with sandwiches on it. I ate one while feeding him bites of it. All throughout the ride he keep telling me funny things about him, I got to know him much better.

Siargao Island. This is where he takes me, the tear drop island of the Philippines. "Aren't you bored with me here?" Azrael asked me while hugging me from the back. "No, why would I? This is such a breathtaking place where I don't need to find a rooftop just to see the skies. And besides, you're with me. Why did you ask? Are you tired of me?" I answered.

"I will never be tired of you" He answered while looking into my eyes.

The scorching heat of the sun hits my face as I walk by the shores. The wind blows hard causing a big wave to the mesmerizing blue ocean. Surfers are enjoying the ocean and the foreign tourists are excited to get tan. While I, on the other hand enjoys watching them. I love my new home, this island.

"Hey, here you go again watching people, don't you want to settle in our office and just manage it?" Azrael asked me the same question every day. And every time he ask me that my answer is, "No, I want it here, near the ocean, where can I see the sky." He always respects my decision. Every morning he goes to the office to manage his new branch of hotel here. Yup, he is such a business person. We decided to settle here and enjoy life. While every afternoon he always accompanies me to eat and when the sun sets, we always sat on the sand and watch it together.

Today, there's a band singing for the tourists and the locals. But we didn't bother to look closer and instead stayed sitting here on the sand. We can hear the music from here, they have good voice and music.

"Our next song is our cover of the song 'There's no way' by Lauv ft. Julia Michaels"

I look at Azrael knowing it is one of his favorite. The band starts to tune up the melody of the song. And when the vocalist sings the first lines of the song, Azrael goes up and held his hands for me. I stand up and he guides me into slow dancing. I Lean my head on his shoulders as he sang along to the band. We swayed to the melody of the song.

"You touch me and it's almost like we knew, that there will be history between us two"

"I wish I could make the time stop, so we could forget everything and everyone, I wish that the time would line up, so we could just give in to what we want" We sing together feeling the emotions of the song.

The song ended as the sun finally sets for this day, I saw the orange sky caused by the sun setting...
